At what age do you start to feel old?

In my case, 40 was the dividing line between "adult" and "middle-aged adult."

70+ starts going into "old" territory.

I'm not necessarily talking about feeling like a senior citizen, but have you ever felt like you're not as young as you used to be? If so, when did you start to feel that way? Is it when you hit your 20s, 30s, or 40s, or has it more to do with certain milestone achievements like getting married and having kids?

I'm soon to be 34 and i feel this on a weekly bases.

First it was younger people start calling me Sir and using the german word "you" in a matter indicating you're a stranger and need to called neutral (in german there's a difference to the word "you" used amongst friends and "you" used when meeting strangers who have not given permission somehow to use the more informal version). It's especially noticeable with apprentices i get at my job i have to train who are late teenagers or very early twenty-somethings.

Then comes the realization that i could party the entire weekend with about 5 hours sleep total whereas doing that today would ruin me for days to come.

There's also the additional small pains here and there.. something i didn't have 10 or 20 years ago.

Off-topic: I've never studied German, but it sounds like the "you" reference is similar to Spanish tú (you singular familiar/informal) and usted/Ud. (you singular formal).

I don't believe in 'old'. I'll be 90 and still wearing my gold Rocawear shoes and acting like a 20 year old.

Yeah, but by that time it will probably be because you have Alzheimer's..

haha, nah, I actually met a woman the other day who was commenting on my gold Rocawear shoes and said her 92 year old mother loves 'bling' and had gold shoes and matching purses. Hip old granny.

When the doctor told me it was time for bifocals. When Keyshawn Johnson, who my little brother helped coach in high school, retired from the NFL. When a president was elected who is only three months older then me.. When they started playing music that came after my music on the oldies stations....

You're not old until you start saying things like"Them damned kids and their crazy music.".

Does thinking all music made today sucks and is nowhere near as good as your day count?

It used to, but not any more. Now its just that it sucks.
:lol::lol:

Every time I turn the radio on, I go "What is this crap?"
All I can do is analyze it from a musical and sound engineering POV. And occasionally you do get a good vocal performance, and once in a truly blue moon, an instrumental performance of note - but it is the insistence on bland instrumental tracks in hip-hop I find the most annoying. But I like what they do sound-wise.

^^ I don't. I listen to ZLX Classic Rock. :D
I never heard classic rock till I stopped listening to classic rock stations. Though a lot of what they play is good.

The other day I met someone named Dave Scott...I said "like the astronaut?"...and he said "huh?" I said "Gemini? Apollo?" and he said "huh?"

Couple of weeks back I was talking to my niece about my trip to Poland. I mentioned that it seemed odd going to a country that had been behind the Iron Curtain. She was like:  Then I started explaining the whole Communinism, Iron Curtain, Berlin Wall thing that had blighted Europe for some many decades. She started laughing and didn't believe a word I was saying. I felt old. Very old.

From a comedian (maybe Jeff Foxworthy):

When you were young, you complained that you dad drove too slow. These days, that vehicle recklessly speeding through your neighborhood you keep complaining about is being driven by your father.

When a pretty woman walks by, both you and your dad's heads turn.

I'm a little under halfway through 29. I will be 30 next year and I have made nothing of my life. :(

30. That's where life ends. It's all over there, wherever you're at by then you'll be there till your deathbed.

Don't say that. Everyone's different.

As for the younger generation, Bob Dylan was recently stopped by police officers while walking down a neighborhood in Southern CA, I believe. Someone had called in to report a suspicious looking person wandering about in the streets. The police officers were in their 20s and asked him what his name was. "Bob Dylan." They didn't recognize him or his name.

Come on. You've heard of Bob Dylan. Right?
