I actually had chance at meeting him several years ago. He was very personable, and very down-to-earth. And later that same day, I attended a talk he gave about his experiences in Space, and again he does explain things very well. Then he finished the evening off with a musical performance. He was actually one of the first, if not the first, to bring a musical instrument to space early in his astronaut career. He'd actually had a custom made guitar that's now on exhibit at the Canadian Air & Space Museum.

Something for me to look at when it's safer to visit the museums of Ottawa again. And when OC Transpo gets their act together about making sure all federal museums in Ottawa-Gatineau are reachable during regular business hours...but that's a topic for elsewhere.

Heh, I'm sure he'd be charmed at the comparison

But yeah, he's a great guy, and I think he's one of the few that does social medial right, in that he doesn't post for attention, but for education.

He's actually the second astronaut I met, the other one being Alan Bean, from Apollo 12.
