Arrow/Flash Superhero Team-Up Spinoff In Works At CW

I usually just do the full page view since that was how it was intended to be read. I tried the guided view a few times and didn't really like it.

Get comics back into the supermarket checkout isles. DC and Marvel should go back to cheaper print productions in some format and have one dollar or two dollar comics right

This has come up before - basically there is no benefit, the actual cost of printing has no particularly large impact and more importantly retailers don't want them - take up a lot of space for a low margin item.

as for the other two points:

* The idea that comic sales are falling - it's actually the opposite, they have increased year on year for at least the three years.

* The quarterly idea would crash the market - Go and read Brian Hibbs columns, he's covered that idea before and how that would work for a comic retailer.

As for

I have said it before, but if comics want to continue to publish monthlies the current model needs to be abandoned or re-done. The niche market comic shop killed comics and destroyed to potential future market.

Get comics back into the supermarket checkout isles. DC and Marvel should go back to cheaper print productions in some format and have one dollar or two dollar comics right there at the check out line for kids to beg their parents to buy. Sales would skyrocket.

And it can be done by keeping current continuity. Here's how:

The editors choose series that are to be written with young buyers in mind. Similar to digital formats these comics see the light of day one or two months after the higher quality print comics are released to direct market sales. You can then have your T+ titles published alongside your G titles in the same universe with the G titles seeing the second print run. Kids and the casual readers or those who have just seen the latest movie or whatever will pick them up. If every Walmart and Target and wherever people buy their groceries has these books for the price of a candy bar or two or half the price of People or whatever people are going to pick them up. Sales would skyrocket again.

I know people say it would never happen but it is stupid not to do it, especially with super-hero movies in the mainstream.

i think you're right...or even Dollar stores... I remember as a kid eagerly picking up Adventure Comics digest, which were reprints of stories from up to 20 years earlier. Surely such reprints, in newsprint, should be cheap enough to do, right?

Yeah. I've probably read more digital comics in my life than print ones. (Neither is a very high number.) Usually, I find them to be pretty good. But like I said, there are some where the frames are structured such that getting the panels to "look right" within the screen can be a bit awkward.

I love Comixology's guided view technology. It is also easy to switch back and forth, zoom in and out how you want, etc. Also, a lot of the "other" comic book companies now let you download permanently what you purchase so you can actually buy the file.

Just try and read J.H. Williams' Batwoman or the new Bucky Barnes: Winter Soldier comic in guided view. It's a mess.

We need to get the thread back on track, but it a double tap you can switch between guided view and manual. In fact, I go back and forth regularly so I never need my reading glasses to enjoy.

Casting Descriptions of New Characters

“THE TRAVELER” | Described as a “Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.

“FEMALE WARRIOR” | This twentysomething Latina is pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others.

“MYSTERY HERO” | An African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.

The article speculates about the African-American "Mystery Hero" being Static, but do they even have the rights to that character?! I thought I remembered one of the Milestone people fairly recently talking about Static getting his own live action show.

Black Lightning sure is a possibility, but I kinda think it's Jason Rusch, teaming up with Martin Stein to become the new Firestorm.

The "Female Warrior", I think the article should drop the Fury part and just go with the Yolanda Montez version of Wildcat, considering Ted Grant's recent death/crippling.

That's my guess, anyway.

Of course, these days, there's no guarantee that a black or Latina actor in a superhero film or show will be playing a character who was black or Latina in the comics.

I would not count Robbie Amell as Ronald Raymond out of this yet. There has been no official casting announcements. I suspect the ones that have leaked out like Routh, Lotz, etc were because their contracts have been finalized. Seems odd that they would build him up all season not to use him. Amell has no other big roles that are know of.

Its probably tricky finalizing contracts on a spin-off like this. All these actors are just reoccurring guest stars right now. Not regular cast members. Its Pilot Season. They probably need to know if they have future work or they should look for another more regular job. I know this has affected how often we have seen some of the guest characters. Wildcat has been sidelined because the actor got a new series. Plus its unclear when this spinoff will debut. Probably not on the fall schedule.

I was thinking that the Traveler was Booster Gold but then I remembered that the three new characters are ones never done on a live action show before. That rules out Booster since he appeared on Smallville. Rip Hunter perhaps?

The could do an Atom and call him Rip Hunter, but use Booster's quirks and characterization.

^You can just as well call that doing a Felicity, since they basically called her Felicity Smoak but made her Oracle.

But then, Felicity and the Atom are doing each other now...

Babs doesn't have Felicity's verbosity. Though I'd love to see the two of them together. Since Felicity is in the GA comic now, it could happen.

None of the articles are saying whether or not Caity Lotz is playing a new character or returning as Sarah. This actually makes me think she will be Sarah and we'll see her alive before Arrow's season is over. I would think if she was just playing a totally new character, which seems very unlikely, that they wouldn't be so mysterious about it.

I don't think they are being mysterious. These aren't official press releases, they're rumors leaking out by word of mouth. We may just be hearing fragments of the story.
