I think the reason it's so expensive is because it's being categorized as a text book, so it's being given a textbook price, not just a standard hardcover or paperback price.

"I beg your pardon" is an idiom indicating a lack of understanding and a desire for clarification, it doesn't mean that someone is literally begging for your pardon. Don't Amelia Bedelia things.

The point is, if you can understand common idioms, then you can also try to understand metaphors and other linguistic devices, if you want to. And I would argue that at least on this side of the Atlantic "begging one's pardon" does include a bit of apology, if the person saying it expects the other to choose to continue to engage them.

Now, who's buying the Insurrection book for $95, and who's Googling to download a copy? I've read it if anyone would like to discuss. The Ian McKellan Vulcan/Picard scene could have been far more memorable than anything we got.

That's actually a really good point, and even though I have no issue with the price tag as I have no intention of purchasing the book, that makes a lot of sense given the price tag of some academic text books I've purchased over the years.

So then when someone is being rude or condescending to you on this bulletin board, you should not point it out to them. You seem to think that using a word like DICK is an insult while insulting BEHAVIOR is ok. It's one thing if you have Asperger's or something and can't understand, but otherwise you should be respectful of others at least until you know what they're saying.
