It's really coming together.

I got one of the chairs finished yesterday

Still need to paint and put the second one together.

As I was sanding it, a neighbor was walking her dog. She asked if I built the chair from scratch. I replied, no, it's made of wood.

I used to do a lot of woodworking when I was a kid. Congrats on building Adirondack chairs

Nice job, bro. We have two weathered adirondack chairs in the side yard that need repainting - yet another job to get to sometime Your photo reminds me that I still have a brand new table saw to put together... grrr

I bought a resin kit and have been doing some epoxying, puttying, and sanding these last few days. Time for the primer coat!

Hope to have this done by May 8!

We've just never had the time to work on fixing the crappy, downhill basement approach to our basement so it's always looked horrible. Here's a picture from just a few weeks ago. The idea now is to tier the downhill with landscape ties from foundation to fenceline to give it a cleaner look. Here's the first tier so far...

and from the opposite view...

I drilled holes and pounded rebar into the tie ends and later, white marble stone will lay inside each level; then we'll add steps to close the deal. There is a LOT more digging to go - I figure two more tiers should do it.

Meanwhile, we took a huge ash tree down in the front. It was right where our future stone driveway is going to be so it had to go. My awesome neighbor Steve came over to lend a hand but in the picture below it would appear that I take all the credit

(For some reason, my camera was set for black & white ) Anyway, these trees have massive root systems that cause little ash saplings to start growing all over the yard like weeds so cutting it down had an extra benefit.
Getting the tree down was nothing compared to the stump. I spent hours afterward trying to dig and cut it out but only got it to this point since my chainsaw is a bit smaller than the diameter of the tree at ground level. So here is the new view sans one ash tree

Just go back in time like you did for the other picture and cut it down when it was smaller.

I finished one pile of tree limb cleanup today and then started the digging with my Johnny Bucket. I've decided to flatten out a section of the yard since putting in the pool and deck has made it uneven. This is gonna take awhile.

Finally something I could do (and have done). If it doesn't require more than a shovel, a level, a tape measure, a chain saw and a lot of sweat then I'm in the game.

I'm really itching to get the next tier going so another few runs to Home Depot are needed for landscape ties. In the meantime, however, I'll start digging out the next level and temporarily brace things with some cinder blocks. Rain in the forecast means a little time for my back to recover from all this labor.

I'm going to have to take some pictures in the near future, been busting my ass to redo my basement the past couple weeks. Repainted walls and ceilings, redid some of the woodwork, hung a flatscreen TV and surround sound, buried all the cables behind/underneath said woodwork, etc. Came out pretty good, just finished most of the wiring this weekend.

Just gotta try and find a "before" picture to contrast against....
