Looking good, dude!


I fixed the blade of my hockey stick today. The tip was splitting apart so I whipped up some epoxy and built a new tip. After it sets up overnight, I'll sand it smooth.

Since I'll have nothing but time on my hands starting April 1st, I'm going to build a pair of adirondack chairs for the front yard. My wife has wanted some for a long time. Hopefully they'll turn out well and I can post some pics.

I put in a few hours on this gorgeous Saturday afternoon working on the shingles.

So there's still one last row to finish off this side of the house. I'll cut them with a miter saw because I need a nice clean line that my hand cutting tool just can't deliver. I have a LOT of shingles left over so we may get going on the opposite side next weekend

When you finish with your house I have a list of stuff for you to work on at mine!

My next door neighbor (wonderful people!!) just came down yesterday to open up their summer 'shack' and Dave (the husband) says - "hey, thanks a lot.. Nancy (his wife) saw your new shingles and decided we needed to do our house" GA, shingling is fun - it would be my pleasure

Here is the other side to be shingled. With no scaffolding and just a ladder I can foresee a very time consuming job. But that's ok. We only just recently cleared all the brush/hedges up against the foundation to make room for work

The first few bottom rows will start at about chest level so these will move quickly, at least. The downspouts will have to come off for the corner trim. And then there's the windows. Wow this is going to be a real challenge

Thank you, SPOCKED. It was irritating me to no end because they're so simple. Just a few parts and a bunch of O-Rings. I knew a loudmouth once who bragged how he was such a fantastic mechanic, yet he viewed front-wheel drive cars with suspicion. Nope, he was scared of them and wouldn't touch them. Not only did I ignore his dire warnings and rebuild the struts on one car, but I also pulled the CV axles and installed a rebuilt set when the CV joints were grinding. It's just something that's different.

Wait until I throw up some links of what I'm doing to my VW's!

Accent wall update

We got these nice wall sconces as a gift a week ago and decided to look for a nice mirror to tie them together. At Lowes today, this mirror totally jumped out at me! And at $70 for a 43" X 31" it was the least expensive one on the wall...

I really love the inlaid pewter beads around the mirror

Our living room is small, so this really helps to add more light (from the opposite picture window) as well as "open up" the space. We love what it does for the room.

As I was sanding it, a neighbor was walking her dog. She asked if I built the chair from scratch. I replied, no, it's made of wood.
