Are You Handy? 2

^^ Same here. I want my Major Matt Mason and Colorform Space Alien toys back.

^I could do with getting the boxes for my LEGO back (I still have all the blocks, but parents and/or sister discarded the cardboard boxes (and instructions) at some time - Original packaging is what makes a handful of (say) LEGO into a priceless antique!)

I just made my first batch of three candles! Now they just have to cool down and solidify. It's been a while since I've been excited about something like this. :D

I once found a Matt Mason at a yard sale. Was busy cleaning it with a rag to list on ebay, and didn't realize that as i was rubbing him with goo-gone , i was taking all of his paint off.
&*&^$^#%$$&*

I had those Colorform Space Aliens! OH MAN!!!!! Walk down memory lane!!!!

METALPANTS: Cool! Pics! I use to make candles a long time ago. It was great fun and a creative thing to get into. I'll have to dig around some of my very old photo albums to see if i have any pics. I use to love making "Sundaes" and other "sweet shop delights".

With my wife's recent 'remote' work status we've decided to do an upgrade to the small space in the back bedroom. She needs an office space because her work laptops and monitors are all over the dining table and its driving me nuts  We were talking about simply painting the old paneling but instead decided to invest a little money into a larger upgrade.

So here's the "before"
(though it doesn't show the problematic paneling very well - you'll just have to trust me on this one.

^ Cutting this first panel is unnerving because it's $40 per sheet. No room for error and I must've remeasured every dimension 10 times. Fortunately it all went well. Also, the 50 year old outlets will be getting an upgrade.

^ Here the side panel is installed and the desktop is in for a test fitting. It's lower than it was before since the keyboard won't get under-mounted. The tower will go under the desk since realestate up there is at a premium. In fact, the ViewSonic is going to get wall mounted on the right side.

^ The window frame is in and you can see the rest of the molding. Sadly, I can't get rid of this old window quite yet. But it will be getting a major cleaning and new coat of paint. I'm going to replace the left and right side window frames because I measured them wrong, but otherwise not too bad. Plus I've replaced the outlet (and two others in the room that were accessable)

I'm very happy with how well the berber compliments the new paneling - here you can see the floor molding which will later go all around the room.

I think at this point we can start moving DM's computers over. We should be getting the monitor (mount) arm within a week or so :)

Spocked: It looks GREAT! I love that wainscotting. We have it in our kitchen and in one of out bathrooms. I really love it.

RJD: oooh make me jealous and post a pic of it. I'd LOVE to see it!

^^ I can do that. :D

SPOCKED, looking good. You should have a TV show or something.

Have you given any thought to having a dedicated breaker for this part of the room with all the computer equipment you're talking about putting in there?

That's actually a good idea, Ice. There will certainly be more electronics in here than there was before, and running much more often.

I'm also wondering if there's enough room for some sort of fan in there. Electronics generate a good amount of heat.

RJD: ooooooohhhh sooo cool!!!!! I love it!! Thank you for posting. What a GREAT walk down memory lane that is for me!!

^^ Someday when I'm rich I'll have them all again.

Check out this site. It even has info about the never-released second series.

Ohhhh RJ!!!! :bolian: GREAT site! I had Xodiac and Electron too. GAH. Now i must possess them all over again! Just what i needed. Something else to obsess about!!!!! Thanks RJ! What a great site that is. :)

You're welcome. It is a great site. I downloaded all the content in case it disappears. :rommie: At one time I had all of them except Orbitron.

I wish that the second series had come out....

^ hooked the pc back up to test things out :)

Looming out the window is one of my next projects... bordering a driveway area. Just too hot and relentlessly humid this summer; I put it off for autumn and moved on to other things.
