Are You Handy? 2

Good, cuz here's the system we were looking at last weekend. Just out of curiosity, JP, can the compressor also be used for a paint gun?
That's the one I got a few years back. And it will run a paint gun. I painted my pellet stove last year year with it. Since that is relatively small I didn't have any air supply (all out of love, I know) problems. You might on larger jobs so spray small sections at a time perhaps.

I also got an air hose extension so I could run it in the basement and do the trim upstairs and not kill everyone's eardrums.
Good to know, Gertch, thanks :techman:

So the good news on refinancing - in addition to a percentage point drop in interest, is that we go from a 30 year fixed to a 20 year fixed. That should save us a few bucks :D

Did you lock in already? I'd highly recommend 15.

Our monthly payment is going to go up by about $80 which is nearing if not at the extreme limit we can afford. It's going to have to be 20 or my head will explode  Not locked in per se; we're gathering all our paperwork stuff tonight to mail to the mortgage co. prior to the closing.

20 is better than 30, but IMHO, that's still stretching it. You know all about the Dave Ramsey philosophy, right? ;) I'm working like hell NOT to have a mortgage over my head.

No pics but I took the door off the shower stall this weekend and put up a shower curtain.

This has to be the smallest shower stall available and it's hard to move around in. Now we at least have ONE "wall" that has elbow room!

Friday we discovered some signs of mold/mildew in the bathroom (accumulating on the ceiling). For the last year, we've left the bathroom unfinished because we wanted to put money into higher priority tasks. This means there has been no molding on ceiling or floor and exposure to open drywall etc. So with this new development, we decided to get back in there and finish the job sooner rather than later. We got rid of all the older towels and tossed the shower curtain and bath mat and bought all new stuff - then sprayed and scrubbed all the affected areas.

We picked up 6 sheets of drywall (only one needed for bathroom - the rest will go on the basement walls later) to finally cover up exposed ducting from the basement in our bathroom (ack! gross!) We got some floor molding down already and it looks awesome - what a difference. Today we hope to finish the molding up and down where we can and mud the new drywall (which will also provide the ability to add 2 new, built-in shelving systems for all the usual bathroom stuff).

My brother stopped by and we lifted our pellet stove up onto the pedestal. FINALLY! And she's up and running right now :)

^^ grrr, still need to get the molding around the tiles :klingon:

Just used a piece of construction lumber for the mantlepiece and stained it - it's great to finally get that up too. This whole thing worked like a charm and there's ACTUAL HEAT building up in the living room only 30 minutes after start up :D

Hey, that stove looks familiar! Nice job.

Yesterday I unhooked and cleaned all the pipes out. Today we have it running to make sure everything is okay.

^ Hey, nice stove :D

I love that I can hang my bare feet over the end of the love seat and they get toasty warm :techman:

We are so relieved to finally have our home heating system up and running before it got too much colder.

Still envious. Looks grat and cozy.

I finally took the door off the sorry small excuse for a shower in the "master bath." We now have one direction of elbow room.

Yes, it'll give you a great warmth. When we ran out of pellets and had to rely on the electric heat we noticed it just wasn't the same.

And the people at Englander (Mike Holton) are great if you have any questions at all.

I finished the deck a couple weeks ago and finally got a couple of pictures taken...

Didn't really notice any molding issues. Looks clean and neat to me. Amazing job.

When you're done with your house, can I give you a job in ours? :p :D

Nice work guys. It makes me want to do some work on my place when I get back to Canada next year! Truth be told I'll probably pay someone to do it though.

SPOCKED, don''t you have to use some kind of special sheetrock that's been treated for moisture in a bathroom? That stove looks and sounds mauvvvelous....

Gertch, have you got a pool hidden back there somewhere? Noticed the sign, can't see the pool. Nice choice of stain for the deck.
