I really think they wasted Landry.

Four episodes and we've seen a lot of suffering.
Awesome. Just what I watch Star Trek for!
Kirk killed his best friend in the first episode.![]()
I know exactly what Kirk did in "Where No Man...", which is the second episode after "The Cage".

It was a Japanese octopus salad. Goes right along with the fortune cookies (which are originally of Japanese-American origin). Also I'm pretty sure we saw him eating what looked like Klingon food in his ready room, maybe it's like the manchurian candidate. Probably not, but it's fun to speculate![]()

He only gave her an enthusiastic bear hug. Accidents happen. No, it was the ripper that wasted Landry,

So they'll have her try to nerve pinch Lorca, run to the bridge, commit mutiny, try to fire on the Klingons, and Lorca will step on the bridge, phaser drawn? Not broadcast.
I do think the show is building up to a number of things, though, with my suspicion being the season will end with Lorca planning some sort of genocidal or evil plan which Burnham stops and that propels her to the captaincy as she shows the Discovery should be about science and PEACE not war.
It's basically the "Knightfall" and "Reign of Superman" plot where you introduce what Batman and Superman AREN'T so you can show you what they ARE.

I would love to see her commit mutiny again, try to convince everyone that they're a ship of peace, while disruptor fire rains down on the ship. The Redundant Adventures of Mutiny Burnham, exclusively on CBS All Access. Subscribe today!
Huh? The Discovery (and the Glenn) WOULDN'T EXIST but for the war. Stemets states that he and his partner peacefully on the Spore Drive tech for 12 years; but it were immediately co-opted by Star Fleet (who built these two ships specifically to test and develop the tech BECAUSE of the war.)Which is a reason why they should have waited until a later season to do a war story. They got to not only establish the characters, the universe the villians and they got to do it one season with only 15 episodes to work with. That's a ton of stuff to do especially when your also put so much focus on a single character. I think the characters right now are pretty established so I hope we see more war stuff in the next few episodes create more peril and which case you then take it up another notch which will most likely have to do with the spore drive and this alternate universe stuff. I kind of like the idea that when they return to this universe they find that things have even gotten worst and thus putting more pressure on them to find away to win the war.

That's like saying "They shouldn't have had the first season of Deep Space Nine on a Space Station..."![]()
