Oh boys, I'll take you all. You can stay in my Man-Pen, with David Tennant, Hugh Jackman, and Johnny Depp (they're allowed out to make movies, occasionally).

In all seriousness, I don't mind the joking, it's when people cross the line into Creepsville, which seems to be happening a bit too much around here lately, that I get annoyed/uncomfortable -- and I think most of the ladies of the BBS (though I wouldn't presume to speak for all of them) probably feel the same way.

If it makes you feel any better, you won't be on the receiving end of any of that behaviour from me anymore.

if i've crossed the line, i apologise.

i'm awesome because:

I'm a Star Trek fan-fic writer who doesn't go mad with uberships and fan-wank

I'm writing Action Force fan-fic

I've written a book

I'm a Transformers fan who can quote huge chunks of dialogue verbatim.

I am not a sheep, I don't like Watchmen and I'm not afraid to say it.

I like Doctor Who. nu and Classic

I bought my red nose for Comic Relief.

I am secure in myself and my personality.

i refuse to comply with gender stereotypes.

i refuse to comply to fanboy stereotypes.

I grew up in a culture where self praise is utterly frowned upon, so it's a concept I have a great deal of trouble understanding.

:(

If you believe your awesomeness makes you better than other people, if you go around boasting and bragging, then you have a big ego.
I have to disagree with you on this. I think that's the sign of a small, weak ego; one that can only feel important at somebody else's expense. On the other hand, somebody like me, who has an ego the size of the planet Jupiter, is secure enough to acknowledge the greatness in others and to admit that there are things I have no talent for. I can even end a sentence with a preposition and feel no embarrassment whatsoever.
Actually, I think this is simply of my slightly misusing the word "ego," in the same way the poster to whom I was responding misused it -- and the way a lot of people misuse it, to mean arrogance, or an exaggerated sense of self-worth, when really it is just a sense of self-worth, or self esteem. I agree with you entirely!
