Are You Afraid Of Dying???

Please take the poll. Thank you.

I'm not afraid of Death, I know where I'll be going. I am however afraid of HOW I'll die, I really don't want it to be long and or painful! Dieing in my sleep would be preferred thank you :D

But what about those who supposedly believe in the afterlife? As another poster pointed out, many of these folks claim to believe that heaven is so wonderful that they can hardly wait to get there. But even they fight tooth and nail to stay HERE. So I have to wonder if they REALLY believe in the afterlife, or only hope for an afterlife.

I believe in reincarnation. But without any reasonable knowledge or proof of such, it's only sensible to acknowledge that my belief may be incorrect. And even if you think something greater will come after death, that doesn't mean you have to be in a hurry to get there.

As I pointed out earlier, this is exactly why every culture has invented an afterlife. Fear of death is the most fundamental instinct we have. No person-- or any other animal, for that matter-- could function properly without it. Believing that death is just a change of address is just one way people have of dealing with it.

Yes, RJ - I read your earlier post on the subject and agreed with it also. I used another poster's post in my own, but there were several I agreed with fully - yours being one.

Since one or two of the posters in here feel the need to come after me, any time I post anything longer than a couple of paragraphs, I have elected to cut back on fully responding - even to the most complex of questions - in order to accommodate those unable to concentrate long enough to read my posts...but who, incredibly, seem equally unable to simply ignore them. ;)

I want to respond, but I can't be arsed to read two paragraphs.

So I am going to assume that you have kittens. Why?

If you're going to cut back on responding, then just do it without advertising the fact that you're doing it in order to create false drama. That kind of defeats the purpose if your goal is to avoid further criticism for your position.

I know that some poeple dont beleive this but when my uncle died of cancer l senced that he was gone.
I had a feeling that there was someone following me very strongly l kept ooking back to see if there was anyone there but there wasnt.
That day he did die around lunchtime they feeling l got ws around this time.
My mum was not told about his death until two days later.
Who answered that call was me.
His daughter ranfg up two daysa later because she couldnt contact her because maybe we all were out at the time she kept ringing.
Well like l said l answered the phone and was told that l would have to tell my mum that was the most upseting time of my life to do this.
I never want to do this ever again but if l had to again l have to admit l would tell
But it was hard telling someone who is close to that person that he was gone the tears in her eyes and not knowing what to say was terrible
Has anyone ever had to do that and how did you feel and waht did you go through.
I know l went to work on that day and fell apart and it was great how my workmates gave me advice on how to do the right thing in the right way.

Tried it once. Didn't agree with me at all...
This. I also tried it (Jan 19, 2008 of total respiratory failure due to advance pneumonia) and didn't like it at all. Don't intend to do it again, if at all possible.

Woody Allen said:
Some people hope to achieve immortality through their progeny.
Others hope to achieve immortality through great works and service to mankind.
I hope to achieve immortality by not dying.

I'm with Woody on this one. Also on hot young Asian chicks.
