The accepted version of virgin nowadays is lack of vaginal penetration (at least for hetero sex). However "sex" by definition can mean any type of sex. If you have had oral sex but not penetration, then you have had "sex". If you don't believe me, perform oral sex on someone then ask your significant other if they feel you cheated or not.

RAMA

Then again, if you make out with someone it could be considered cheating, but no one would consider it sex.

Plus, ya know, we're Star Trek fans. That's like an automatic handicap in the sex department!

I'm also into anime, video games, and programming. My odds are not good.

My first boyfriend was into anime and video games. My husband is into video games and programming is what he does for a living.

I'm a Trekkie and complete and utter nerd in different ways.

The odds might not be good, but it does happen. And when it works out, it's awesome!

Oh, I'm not saying nerdy yet attractive girls don't exist. They're just hard to find!

For my part, I was doing a bit of fondling with girls before I even hit puberty, even if we didn't see it as actual sex.

I'd be surprised if most people didn't go through a phase like that. I know I did with the girl next door, but it didn't last into the double-digits as I recall.

Doesn't seem to have implied anything about my later behavior though.

I am not a virgin, but I was when I was born, and stayed that way until I became sexually active.

My question is, how can the poll be broken down to 75% to 22%? I'm no math wizard, but with only two options...

Those aren't percents; they are actual votes. The percents are in the next column over.

What's keeping the virgins from simply adding as many people as possible on their list, in the hopes of getting a match? :D

Perhaps losing their virginity isn't of that much importance.

For every 10 who's virginity isn't of that much importance, there's at least one who's virginity is that important. I'm sure of it. :D

Mine didn't last into the double digits, either.

Quite interesting that, how it's completely natural in your childhood, and when it suddenly gets the name "sex" it's a whole different ballgame?

anyone who let's the MPAA define their morality is already on to a loser...
1. Pretty classic trolling. Leave it out of your responses
2. For the last time, continuing discussion of this is off-topic. Further continuance well be met with infractions.

Yeah, you might as well join a monastery.

I've thought about it, but they probably don't have high speed internet.

Some of us try to pass for normals. You need to make a casual joke about something nerdy to try and lure us out.

Yeah, that's true. I've found that girls tend to be a bit more secretive about their nerdier interests than guys.

I've got no problem with anybody here who is still a virgin. I didn't put any qualifiers on it ("why are you still a virgin?") because that's not what I was interested in. Everybody has their own reasons--some are awkward with their preferred sex, some are waiting, some have no interest in sex, etc.

I lost mine at the age of 20, though I had the opportunity at 17.

For those who want to lose it but haven't: just get out there and do it! Join a dating site or go to hangouts that suit your tastes, or have your friends set you up. Plenty of ways to make it happen, but the #1 predictor of success is confidence.

Unfortunately, yes.

I really shouldn't let it bother me but it does. i don't just want to cast it off to the first willing girl who comes along (something that's unlikely to happen anyway) but it pisses me off seeing friends and work colleagues meeting up and copping off with either complete strangers or each other. With me it feels like there is a complete disconnect with the opposite sex, partly (or mainly I should think) because I'm not physically attractive, and also because I find it difficult to interact socially around others. I don't try to be awkward but whenever I'm out with mates in town or down the pub I always get the feeling that I'm not supposed to be there, like I'm just taking up space or something.
