So if you've done it but haven't finished are you still a virgin? Not say that's happened to me, just asking.:D

I've got no problem with anybody here who is still a virgin. I didn't put any qualifiers on it ("why are you still a virgin?") because that's not what I was interested in. Everybody has their own reasons--some are awkward with their preferred sex, some are waiting, some have no interest in sex, etc.

I lost mine at the age of 20, though I had the opportunity at 17.

For those who want to lose it but haven't: just get out there and do it! Join a dating site or go to hangouts that suit your tastes, or have your friends set you up. Plenty of ways to make it happen, but the #1 predictor of success is confidence.

For the longest time, my values were the reason I preferred not to engage in premarital sex.

Nowadays, it's more of a health concern. You see, I'm bi and have never done it with either a man or a woman. Men who have same-sex intercourse have the highest percentage of AIDS and HIV infection among male adults. When I was studying health in college, I seem to recall that gay men have the highest concentration of HIV infection. I don't know if this is still the case, but even with "safe" sex practices using condoms, I'm still not very comfortable with the idea.

so, I am curious. What do people think of those who are virgins b/c they have no interest in sex? if you met someone like this, would you find them weird? would you wonder if they are lying, in some kind of denial, or maybe are actually gay but dont want to admit it? would it make a difference if the person is male or female & what their age is?

I wouldn't care because it would have no effect on me whatsoever... unless I was in a relationship with that person. Then I would slightly care.

I'd more than slightly care if I was in a relationship with such a person. Otherwise, I wouldn't care one iota.

would you find them weird?
Not on that account.
would you wonder if they are lying
Why? Unless you mean to themselves; that's possible.
, in some kind of denial,
Probably, but that's their business. (Most people are in denial about something.)
or maybe are actually gay but dont want to admit it?
Probably not.

To clarify my own position----I've never said it doesn't interest me. It's simply never been important enough to make a priority.

That's probably my main reason, too (health is secondary).

well just to be clear myself, my post wasnt aimed at anyone here specifically. Like I posted in aprior post, Im a virgin due both to mental health issues & as well I have never developed any interest in sex, but am always a bit self conscious about what others reaction to that would be. I know it supposed to be none of their business, but there comes a point at work or with family where you get to talking about this stuff & it comes up.

so I was just curious to read some opinions about it.:alienblush:

I do want to have sex, but for every time I think "Yeah, I'll go find someone now!" I stop myself and rethink it. I hate thinking things through! ;)

Some people actually have what they call "fuck buddies." No strings attached, whatsoever. I don't know why I said that; I just thought I'd throw that into the conversation.

Stricken from the record.

Going back to melancholymecha's comments, bro, you shouldn't worry about what other people might think of your virginity or lack of sexual interest for WHATEVER reason. Period. It's your life. Also, everyone is different and will always have an opinion, negative or positive, and that's just that, an opinion.

Asexuality is rare, but not that rare.

Actually, I consider asexuals rather lucky in that they don't appear to be driven by their hormones. Ageing has somewhat the same effect in reducing the sex drive -- I find it a blessed relief.
