This poll is an answer to a request from another thread, so how about it what are you and give your reasons?

WTF!!!
There was an error when I posted this thread and the attached poll never materialized so please ignore this thread and go to the other one Trekkie, Trekker, or neither?

Someone would first need to give a good and reliable definition of what each of these words means. So far, I'm only sure what "neither" means.

This is a public poll by the way, please ignore th other thread for some reason there was an error and it didn't post the poll that had been attached to it. (Strange but computers can make mistakes too)

Re: Trekkie, Trekker, or neither?

I am a Trek Geek. It was not a poll option so I didn't vote. :)

The way it was described to me is, a trekker is a good solid fan. A trekkie is a boarder-line fanatic, wears the costume away from conventions, paints their car like a shuttle craft, that kind of stuff. It's a matter of degree.

I'm a trekkie.

^ I'm sure a "Trekker" described that to you. ;)

I'm an unapologetic Trekkie (though I don't wear costumes or build shuttlecraft or whatever). Trekkers are Trekkies who care what other people think. :)

What's this, someone trying to be different, eh? Well there is a saying in Japan; "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down."
BAM! - (Giant goofy hammer smashs JiNX-01 on the head)

Re: Trekkie, Trekker, or neither?

I am also a "Trek geek" - or a "Trek fan" if I'm talking to someone who, you know, would back away slowly with an uncomfortable smile on his face if I said, "Yes, I'm a Trek geek."

I don't care for "Trekker" because even after all these years, to me that's still a noun that means "someone who treks, who travels." I don't like "Trekkie" because it sounds silly. I realize "Trek geek" isn't exactly dignified, but there it is. Preferences just aren't always logical.

Edit: With Yeoman Randi, I am a "sister in Trek." ;) Really.

Re: Trekkie, Trekker, or neither?

Don't care. Geek, nerd, Trekkie.... whatever. I am what I am.

... and bloody proud of it.

Re: Trekkie, Trekker, or neither?

In this previously posted (in another thread) 2 part interview you hear what Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto think of the fans they've met, as well as what the new film does for them.

I think it's really relevant to us and this discussion.

Re: Trekkie, Trekker, or neither?

The Trek shows/movies are no more important to me than any of the other S/F or genre shows/movies I like. So I'm neither.
