Hear, hear! I definitely prefer the taste and the texture of the dark meat.

You know, one factoid I learned in a global economics class is that most of the chickens farmed for large industry in the West are split, meat-wise. The white meat is shipped to US & Canadian markets, and the dark goes to Mexico and Central America. This isn't some way of jipping anyone; it's just that their food cultures ended up actually preferring one over the other, and the market followed. Hence, TV ads focusing on "all white meat chicken!" in the US.

I'm with the Mexicans.

Although one of the funniest pick up lines I ever got was when I was a teenager working at Starbucks in Seattle; a very large black guy came up to me and said, with an adorable smile, "So, you like dark meat?"

Okay that just reminds me of the "cannibalism vs. racism" debate from It's Only Sunny In Philadelphia.

It's funny, cause dark used to be more popular and thus more expensive than white meat, but then with the sedentary lifestyles people lead these days and the focus on healthy eating, things have flipped 180.

The dark meat is just too greasy for me, and I like the flavor of the white meat.
