Are We Having Fun?

I have spent way too much time in here tonight (now that I have time to spend in here!) reading the threads and reconnecting with my original love of Trek (which brought me here in the first place.)

Isn't it great to jabber about Star Trek, enthuse over the good parts of the film (plenty) and nitpick the heck out of any flaws (and there are some)?

It's great to be a Star Trek fan. And quintuple that when a new movie comes out, especially when it's better than the last few have been.

And I sure appreciate a place where I can talk about Trek to those who truly understand the insanity of being a fan. Even if your viewpoint is different than mine.

Whoo hoo! :) Trek rocks.

Yes! It feels alive in here again. I love it, mainly because I saw the movie opening night and can give opinions based on what I saw! It is indeed alive, and so is Star Trek, I feel. New life. Here's hoping it continues.

I am having the utmost fun, more fun and excitement about Trek then I've had since the early days! This movie has really brought alot of the excitement of Star Trek back.

Someone's enthusiastic :)

Yeah after watching it with my 3 best friend (whom I rarely ever see together at one time), we spend hours at a bar debating the film over drink and food. Good times.

I've seen it twice; discussed it with my brother twice, my husband a few times (I keep saying "Get out of the chair!" and laughing,) and now I'm on here.

It's amazing that my love of Trek, dating back to my earliest teens, is still with me. Who would have thunk it?

i have been having fun in here for awhile.
but it has been really great since the film turned out much better then i expected.

:)

just reading the reviews coming in was a fun thing and then the thrill of actually seeing the film.

getting to with more friends tomorrow to see it ..

cant wait to see their expressions at certain places.

Oh my God yes.

I mean nitpick if you must--and you know you must--but even if you are the harshest naysayer, surely your heart must be filled with anticipation of what might be to come, with this "reboot" out of the way?

If not, well, I suppose you... are NOT having fun, and that's too bad.

I tried to express my qualms to my fiancee after seeing the film again last night. I was like, "black holes eating supernovae, that's not scientific," and "wasn't nero just a little bit of a plot device?" but she brought me back down to earth. I've enjoyed this film so immensely that I bought the soundtrack today. When I heard that first crescendo that leads into the Kelvin scene, I was like, "I have to see it again." So we did. Third time so far tonight. I'm sure I'll be back to see it again next weekend. So much fun. :techman:

It's good to be excited about Trek again. And it's great to have new stuff to enjoy.

Can it be 2011 now?

I know I've been havin' fun as a Trekkie since I saw the movie last month.

Just glad y'all were finally able to catch up with me!

Hell, yeah.

After the sheer craptitude of Insurrection and especially Nemesis it's a joy to have a movie worth seeing, worth discussing, and that feels like a movie rather than a glorified (and crappy) TV episode.

Sure, some mileages seem to vary but that's only to be expected. Trek does indeed rock. :bolian:

After having seen it tonight I think it's safe to say Trek's "franchise fatigue" has been cured.

The movie had its flaws, but considering everything they had to cram into it, they did an admirable job and it was entertaining as hell. I hope the next film can have more substance but they are off to an excellent start.

It feel really good to be a Trek fan right now. Who would have thought that just 4 years after ENT was cancelled and 7 years after Nemesis that we would be seeing the franchise hit a cultural peak that it hasn't seen in over two decades.

Last night after seeing it for the second time I had a dream about Quinto's Spock, about how uhh.. cute he is. I woke up today for the third day since the premiere VERY EXCITED about Trek, thinking about seeing it again, dreaming of getting the DVD, some more action figures, looking fwd to the (I hope) books set in this time line..

YES I AM HAVING FUN!!

I am really really happy about Trek right now.

:D :D :D

I'd be having more fun if people got the idea that's it's a separate universe, that Old Trek Universe IS STILL out there, and the more rabid fanbois calmed down.

Aside from that... fine, fine.

I'm so jealous of you guys. I've been avoiding this forum for the past couple of days because I won't be able to see the movie until probably tomorrow. Argh! I wanna be excited, too! :scream:
