I voted for Riann. I thought their relationship was charming, right down to the costumes. And she was highly intelligent and advanced in her thinking despite living in the rough equivalent of our planet's 17th century. It always struck me that Archer was really taken with her.

And she handled Archer's background really well. :)

Erika was OK, but I didn't see any chemistry with her. Yes, I can see many others disagree, but she just didn't work for me when she was with Archer. And even when she wasn't. I think she would have been more interesting if she was competitive with Archer.

Don't get me wrong, I thought Riann and "Jonathan" :) were great together. I loved the look of "Civilization," very romantic. But for the two of them to form a lasting relationship, she would have to leave her world behind, or he would. I don't see either of them doing that, or asking the other to do it.

Now, if Riann's world had been a stone's throw from Earth, I would have liked to see Riann as a continuing character, and see the relationship between them develop...perhaps to the point where it's established that Riann could thrive in a new, futuristic (for her) environment on Earth. Like the lady whale expert in ST:IV, who had the adaptability to adjust to Kirk's time after going back to the future with Enterprise.

I voted for Erika. I liked them together aesthetically ;) and I liked the fact that they were equals and both, being Captains, faced problems that applied only to them. Also, from the little we saw of Erika, she seemed a character that would support Archer's more emotional personality.

My pick was Hoshi only because I am still so taken by their Mirror, Darkly shenanigans. They were gorgeous together! Probably would never work, but oh well. :p (I really liked Erika as well though.)

Another vote for Erika. I thought she complemented him well. It would have been interesting, had ENT gone past S4, to see two starship captains trying to maintain a long-distance relationship (if the writers had decided to go that route).

I would have voted Erika except for what happened to her in Kobayashi Maru . . .

Erika Hernandez
Canon!
BTW: Did anyone watch the deleted scenes for the episode "The Expanse" on DVD. He met some hot chick at the Chinese restaurant, apparently an old girlfriend. (Way to go Jon!)

Well she is one of the poll options, so I figured obstacles to "happily ever after" should be disregarded. I just thought there was more chemistry between Archer and Riann. :)

Archer had a booty call with Erika -- that's canon.

You know, I like Riann. I think she's an interesting character who had character development. Erika had no character development, except to provide said booty call. Boo! She seems like she could be very interesting. I haven't read Kobayshi Maru. I'm tempted to, but didn't like the previous two books by Mangels.

Actually, the majority of Erika's character development happens in David Mack's "Destiny" trilogy.

BTW, booty call? That woman was clearly someone who had history with Archer and knew him a lot better than Forrest, T'Pol, perhaps even Trip. She knew something was wrong with him the moment she saw him at the 602 club and that he seriously needed to talk to someone.

There was more friendship, caring and intimacy between them in that episode then between Archer and any other character from the show, except for maybe Trip. But then, we never really saw Archer *truly* opening up to anyone, Trip included (not counting "First Flight" here, the issues Archer had there were not exactly personal or private).

This. I completely agree. I don't see Home as a booty call - now everything's okay event. I see it as Erika affirming that Archer is still a worthwhile human being, even after all he'd done in the Expanse. He is so disgusted with himself, and disgusted with the idea that people actually think he's a hero, naming schools after him. He's wracked with guilt that he lost almost a quarter of his crew. He's been raked over the coals by Soval, and accused of murdering a ship full of Vulcans. He can't even stand himself. Erika is there to show him that he has not a monster - else she would not be able to stand to touch him.

Later on, she shows that she respects him professionally, as well. She follows his lead in exigent circumstances, trusting that the really freaking dangerous stuff he's asking her to do with Columbia is worth it. And she realizes how much Enterprise needs Trip and Trip needs Enterprise. (She could have denied Trip's request to transfer back to Enterprise, but didn't.) All in all, I think she's steady, confident, and a good counterpoint to Archer's tendency to throw himself off the ledge.

I liked Riann, but I think the medieval/space age pairing would be hard to sustain. I wish they'd kept in the deleted Rebecca scene - I think it added a lot to Archer's character and provided at least one person on Earth that represented his private life.
