Assuming there even was “a confirmed landing of an alien spacecraft” at Roswell, it's still a case of post hoc, ergo propter hoc. Only in this instance, there wasn't even any hoc to begin with.

Actually, this is a point that David Aaronovitch addresses in his book Voodoo Histories: people who buy into one conspiracy theory often buy into others as well. Once you get into the conspiracist mindset, you start to see them everywhere.
Another point he makes, which many people may find surprising, is that most conspiracists are not stupid or ignorant. Many of them are actually pretty smart and well-educated. A disposition for conspiracism is independent of any other characteristic.

Firstly transistors are direct descendants of solid state diodes..some of which existed in 1904... if one is acquainted with electronic history, you can see the progression from electron tubes to solid state very easily..there was no "quantum leap" in capabilities or invention..each built up logically on prior research..

Actually I think generally the conspiracy theory postulates that only the first one was faked to meet Kennedy's deadline, avoid being seen as incompetent or keep NASA's budget from being cut.
Although, it's the nature of such conspiracy theories, that even people who agree on the principle of it, in reality believe wildly different things.

Sometimes a person simply is unable to weigh and process information effectively, which can lead to situations with more serious consequences for that individual than simply believing discredited hoaxes. This seems to be the case here with the hoax supporters. Even when presented with good information that should at the very least cause them to reconsider their belief, the information just doesn't register with them and they just go on with the script they already have in their minds for discussing the topic.
