Anyone here ever used StubHub to get tickets?

wow, nice hookup there. Does she have to line up and beat the other people waiting, or does she have a sweet enough deal to just go to another area and get tickets, as long as she gets there before they've given away all of the day-of ticket sales?

$5 is the extent of the sweetness. She hasn't done it before, but from what I gather, you go to the will call or day of game ticket sales window. If you show your hospital ID, you and your party can get $5 tickets.

If they have them, you're set, if not you're out of luck and just waited for nothing.

Sorry for the bump, but I have another question:

Why are the Red Sox the only team in baseball who is not affiliated with StubHub? All the other teams have links to it right from their own websites.

Now I assume this does not mean that you can't actually buy Sox tickets on StubHub, just that the team doesn't really want you to. Why would they do that? Do they have their own site that they would rather have people use?

MA anti-scalping laws, I assume. It's kind of a *wink-wink* non-association, anyway. They advertise for Stubhub and Ace Tickets on NESN during broadcasts and all, just assume MA laws prevent them from actually linking right to it.

Either way, Red Sox tickets are available and legit through Stubhub. Works just fine, I've bought a few through there, and sold more than a few through the site. Been a down year as far as Stubhub pricing for tickets, so a good chance to get them a little lower than they normally go for...

I was gonna say, I've seen Patriots tickets on Stubhub before. It can't be a statewide thing.

Actually the Patriots even once *sued* StubHub to stop them from selling the team's tickets. Their problem was that some fans were showing up at games with fraudulent/invalid tickets, and the problem was made worse by StubHub's guarantee that if this happens, the buyer was entitled to replacement tickets...

Wow, didn't know that. Mine for this year's game are from Ticketmaster and comfortable resting at my house. So no worries in that regard.

Game day is a month from today!!

Never had a problem with Stubhub. I got $35 seats at the Yankees/Braves game for $11 a piece just because a season ticket holder was trying to unload his tickets. I had a friend decide not to go and even scalped the ticket in the middle of Atlanta.

You can just walk right up to the gate with your printed paper and they scan the barcode like it was a ticket.

Missed this one way back when. I suggest Craigslist for tickets. Lose the middleman, get some really good deals close to game time if you can be flexible.

But Craigslist doesn't have a guarantee like StubHub does. If you buy a ticket through StubHub and it doesn't work, they have to find you one that does - even if you're already at the venue. If this happens via Craigslist, you're basically screwed, aren't you?

Yup, it's just generally cheaper on Craigslist. I've used both systems(Stub and CL) this year to get tickets.

Stubhub kind of pisses me off. It's not any worse than Ebay though. I think for season ticket holders of a few teams the resale market is pretty much just a form of welfare. It's too bad I don't have the angle on the DirecTV satellites, for the price of one good Packers ticket (not even counting say.. plane tickets and hotel), I could get all the games in HD. *sigh*
