And Milne just wants a piece of the blonde

I know I'm supposed to let rip with the toothless ferals stuff at this point, but at the risk of sounding like a patronising d**khead, I really do respect what Collingwood does for a lot of these people. They would have pretty rough lives, and the footy gives them an outlet.

Yeah, you don't really want to be sitting near that if you're with the kids, but every club has its morons.

They tip millions into the AFL coffers and it is undeniable every team lobbies hard to get to host them at the MCG.

Congratulations (again) tonight.

But jeez it would be nice to beat the bastards in a Grand Final

Anyone involved in SuperCoach or the like? I'm having a lot of trouble getting my side together, especially with so many new players around, and the complication of byes.

Yeah I'm playing Supercoach. It's a really hard game at the best of times. I have loaded my side with Collingwood players and am hoping that will be enough to carry me through the season.

I got into watching AFL years ago when they used to show it late night on Channel 5 in Britain. Haven't watched it in years - and am rather nervous to state my affiliation to the team I followed then, since Hawthorn don't seem to be held in high regard any more

I have a bit of a soft spot for Hawthorn. It was either them or West Coast, I kinder supported. Sydney never interested me.

I do the NRL dreamteam. Not sure how points are allocated in the AFL one, but I've found after one round, I need to make a few a more trades. Well two this week only. It's addictive.

in my team, I have seven Parramatta players out of 25.

Might be in a bit of trouble when they have byes, then.

I've tried to go for no more than three in a side, so I can hopefully swap players out when their side has a bye.

I am relying on the Pies to blow away everyone else when they do play to make up for the byes

Mind you it is hard to pick a strong Collingwood team when the salary cap is so low.

I hope Krakour turns out to be a cracker.

I always forget about that Thursday night game to launch the season, thanks to the non-existent media coverage the AFL gets up here.

The Australia/India World Cup Quarter is on tomorrow night, so it looks like I won't see the season opener again this year either.

Unlucky timing for the AFL and particularly for whoever's home game it is.

Walk up gate would have to be affected.

One of the best things about the MCG - most games you don't have to book ahead for a ticket, you can just turn up if you feel like it.

Im a swans fan and a St Kilda fan...weird but I have gotten to enjoy AFL...was crushed when the Saints lost the Grand Final last year..

about seventy thousand turned up. quiet night

richmond might win this thing. i am quite pleased.

That's seven about NRL games worth of people in one Thursday night game featuring two notorious underperformers. No questioning which is the dominant sport in this country.

Finally I will get to see some of this game. The Channel 10 replay starts at 11pm, which times beautifully with the tea break in the cricket :techman:

Saints fan here, who lives in Sydney :techman:

We've been crushed three times in two years...takes character (and a ton of alcohol) to support those Sainters

If you want to see Riewoldt or Nicky Dal in the nude give me or any other Pies person a shout, we all have the photos

Congratulations to St. Kilda and Geelong footy clubs, you have managed to cure insomnia for all time. Just watch a replay of that game, you'll be asleep in no time.

Not sure if it was the ageing bones on both lists, or this new sub rule, but that game was slow, riddled with soft frees and (Bartel and Hayes excepted) was a flair and skill free zone.

Terrible crowd. Maybe the fans knew what was coming.

The promised new attacking style of footy from the Saints must be on hold till next week. Nice to see we can still defend, but it ain't gonna be enough against the best sides.

Hoping for a much better effort next week!

Geez, what a shocker. St Kilda always seem to be associated with these horrible games.

Of course, I had Selwood as my Supercoach captain. :(

1 point loss last week...draw this week...moving in the right direction at least!

I was at the game the last time Richmond beat us...in 2003! Nearly knocked us over tonight, though.

Much better game than last week - started shouting at the tele a few times, the footy mojo is coming back!

Saints have to win next week.
