Anyone feel...sorry for Shatner?

There was a Spock - alone - before there was a Kirk, and there is some logic to there being a Spock - alone - after Kirk's demise. Call it... artistic symmetry.

So I take it no one here has read the "Shatnerverse" novels of Kirk after Generations and how he brought James T. back from the dead and all that?

Good point.

All we have to do is: a) get a huge percentage of the general movie-going audience to watch all of TOS episodes leading up to those novels; b) get that same percentage to then read all the Shatnerverse novels; c) get them to care enough after all of that to show up for Star Trek XI (hopefully multiple times); and lastly d) re-write the script and pay Shatner enough money to star in it.

You need this by when? How's Friday?

I wouldn't feel sorry for Shatner even if he was sodomized to death by a wild boar. Actors are like any other order of low-IQ psychopath. There is simply nothing inside them except a rudimentary deterministic automaton equipped with a semi-convincing mimetic algorithm. The ability to actually experience emotions such as grief or regret is as far beyond them as the ability to solve a partial differential equation is beyond a chicken.

TGT

...I like the boar reference but come on TGT, surely SOME actors feel...emotions. ;)

Particularly towards the boar.

...Huh? :vulcan:

Right, Spock existed before Kirk in the very first filmed instance of Star Trek, so there would be a degree of artistic symmetry in having him be the last TOS actor to appear in a Star Trek movie (if that is indeed what happens).
