Because I am.
I guess i don't look like a steriotypical trekkie, and i never ever admit to liking it, that's social suicide.
Have to hide all my tapes and books if a bird is coming over.
It'd be nice to have someone to talk to about it, but it's not the kind of thing you admit is it.
u dont want to look like a stereotypical trekkie (e.g. comic book guy)
I don't know many people who like it either. When the Star Trek movie came out last year, I asked some girl to watch it with me but I didn't tell her what movie I was taking her to see lol. When she finally asked, I told her and she laughed at me, as expected. Too late tho, she already agreed. sucker.
She liked it tho, so it wasnt that bad for her.
But I already did the the whole bar, night club and restaurant scene with this chick more than once, so she knows I'm not a geek. I earned this one nerdy indulgence.
I got my bro hooked on Trek too. But he's not a typical geek either. He used to be a gangster back in high school. One time the teacher asked if anyone in class watched Star Trek. My brother didnt say anything. But some of his boys knew he was a Trekkie and they were laughing cuz he didnt have the balls to admit it. Lol being a trekkie doesnt help ur street cred
So ya, we don't hide it, but it's not something we flaunt to ppl we don't really know.
It'd be nice to meet some more ppl in my real life who like it tho. Maybe a girl. Maybe a hot girl whos nerdy enuf to watch trek with me but still "normal" enough to grind with me to the latest club bangers. yea I kno, I'm dreaming lol. can't have it all
