Any Trekkers for Bernie Sanders?

I like Sanders, but I still think we'll be stuck with Coke versus Pepsi.

This is exactly why we need election reform, so that candidates like this have a real chance.

I think that Sanders aligns more with my beliefs than any of the other candidates.

After the private e-mail fiasco, and her blatant refusal to answer her stance on the Keystone pipeline, I don't think I trust Hillary Clinton to make our country great again, I sure as hell am not voting for any of the Republican candidates, and I don't even trust Trump to prioritize the middle class over the 1%, even if I do like his bluntness.

It is sad that the media continues to ignore Sanders' growing popularity. I don't know if it's out of ignorance, stupidity, or a blatant refusal to cover candidates who won't cooperate with Wall Street and the wealthy 1% if elected.

All I know is that I'm tired of Wall Street always getting their way! :brickwall: I will never forget how their shenanigans were responsible for my dad's business to fail because the investors all the sudden lacked the money necessary to keep it going when it was close to breaking even.

If the Democratic party blatantly refuses to offer Sanders as a candidate, I may vote independent again.

I live in Vermont and am therefore pro-Bernie. I'm not sure how I'd feel if he actually won the nomination, as I can see him being left-wing enough to scare folks who might otherwise go blue, but it's at least fun watching him try.

I admit I keep waiting for a Howard Dean-style flameout though. Hopefully Bernie won't make the same mistakes.

Sanders aligns with my views the most, and he seems to be a man of integrity. I'm voting for him. If all the folks who keep saying, "I like him, but he can't win, so I'm not going to vote for him," did vote for him, he would actually have a chance.

^ Stranger things have happened. I'm not saying it would be easy for him. I'm just concerned about this becoming a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Exactly.

I'm voting for Sanders in the first election. And tbh I consider that vote to by my REAL one. When it's the general election, I'll be voting for Hillary. But honestly, it'll be a hollow vote since she's bought and paid for by corporate interests now.

I'll be very likely to write him in. It wouldn't be the first time.

Unfortunately, it will, like it always does with Independent and Third-Party candidates.

Could not agree more! And Bernie is the ONLY one pushing for and proposing truely comprehensive reform (public financing of elections).

I totally agree -- WE REACH!!! And the main stream media will not be able to ignore him much longer. Since his swing through the South (which he has much more of coming up) and his MASSIVE online organizing event from last Wednesday, there has been a huge uptick in media outlets FINALLY covering him. It's only going to grow as his message spreads.

Right on! And the whole "He's unelectable" line is total nonsense -- he's been getting elected consistently since 1981! Not only that, but in the most recent polling, he handily beats Donald Trump, the Republican frontrunner.

Not unless he triples his polling numbers.

And he just may do that. Here's a quote from a recent Daily Kos story discussing this very issue:

The thing worth looking into a bit is name recognition. After 20+ years in the spotlight, everyone knows who Hilllary Clinton is. Everyone has an opinion on her, one way or the other. By contrast, 36% of voters do not know enough about Sanders to have formed an opinion of him (favorable or unfavorable). That means that Sanders has room to grow, whereas it is more difficult for Clinton to grow her support. So what happens when Bernie's name recognition goes up to 100%?

Well, if the 36% of people who haven't heard of him support him at the same rate that the 64% of people who have heard of him do, Sanders' support will climb to around 43.5%. In this case, if Sanders picks up support evenly from Clinton, from "not sure," and from "wouldn't vote," then the race would look like this:

Hillary Clinton 43%
Bernie Sanders 43.5%
Not sure 5.9%
I would not vote 7.6%

He's been getting elected in Vermont. Vermont is not the rest of the US. Most of this country is a lot more conservative than Vermont.

I like Sanders, but he could never win the general election because he is way, way to the left of the majority of Americans. That's a fact.

^ But there's a big difference this time: this independent is running as a Democrat.
Sure, but will he get the nomination or will he run as an Independent?

Which is great, but for Independents to really have a chance, we need to eliminate the Electoral College and replace binary voting with ranking.

I hear what you are saying, and I thought the same thing, but polling has shown that Bernie is acutally right in line with the majority of Americans. Here's a great article that covers this issue:

And to reiterate my point from the previous post, Bernie wins in general election match ups against the frontrunner Trump.
