Any special Alien releases for the 30th anniversary next year?

In 1999 we got them on DVD.

In 2004 we got the director's cut.

In 2009...? Blu-Ray? Another standard def dvd release? Given the "definitive" editions that have come out it seems there are too many releases anyway.

I'm picking Blu-Ray.

I haven't heard anything about them. I would assume a blu-ray with a new commentary. There are rumors floating that Alien 5 is under development, but it's so far only rumor.

I would say chances are pretty good they'll release the movies on Blu Ray.

I got the Alien Quadrilogy set for $20 when it was on sale at Circuit City a few years ago.

Blu-ray philes say that the second film has so much grain it may be pointless to release it on Blu-ray. I don't care if it's pointless or not, I'll be buying the first two whenever they end up being released. I agree it would be nice to have it next year, what with the anniversary and all.
