any good scifi comedy?

The beeb did make another 12 episodes of Red Dwarf.

Hyperdrive fizzeled out years ago, but they're still making Red Dwarf.
The last BBC Red Dwarf was made in 1999. Hyperdrive came along a few years after that.

I am not sure if it was made by the BBC or not, but have the three part 'Back to Earth" Red Dwarf in 2009 (which I thought was crap) and Season 10 of Red Dwarf came out in 2012. I only really like one of the 6 episodes of that (the one with Jesus in it).

Lister will eventually travel back in time and name the network that is already airing Red Dwarf after himself.

(They made a similar joke in Back to Earth.)

Back to Earth and series 10 were made by and broadcast on Dave, which is run by UKTV, which is part owned by BBC Worldwide, which is a commercial subsidiary of the BBC.

Oh right, I didn't know that. In Australia it aired on the ABC, which is our non-commercial TV.

Futurama is the acme of TV Sci-Fi comedy.

Futurama was the first one to enter my mind (naturally).

Although pretty uneven, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has its moments.

And your second choice was the first one to enter MY mind.

As much as I love that show, I think the 26 part radio series is better.

Can't disagree with that. On radio, my favorite would also be H2G2 followed by Nebulous and Hordes of the Things trailing behind (I can hardly remember that one). Pretty sparse category in that medium though...

No one said "Quark"?

I loved that show when it was on, as a spoof. Maybe I was just young. I haven't seen it since it was first on.

^^ Third post ;)

I bought it on DVD out of nostalgia, it's probably best left to old memories, it's not the worst but it's rather vanilla silliness.

And yet as an American, I had to catch it on youtube rather than BBC America.

I'll add another vote for Red Dwarf. I can rewatch most of these without end.

- Hitchhiker's Guide (short TV series)
- Ice Pirates for some cheesy 80's fun
- Star Crash was probably not meant to be funny, but was really cheesy, so therefore kinda funny
- Evil Dead (original) & Army of Darkness
- other Bruce Campbell movies: Bubba Ho Tep, Man With The Screaming Brain & Alien Apocalypse (just because of Bruce)
- Evil Alien Conquerors (really, really bad)
- Futurama
- Haunted World Of El Superbeasto

Yeah, Quark fails the "good" part of the OP's question. Not horrible, but good mainly for nostalgia.

They kept making full cast hitcherhikers guide radio shows well into this millennium covering the first 5 books up to Mostly Harmless... With mostly the same cast as the TV series, which isn't much of a surprise since the radio show dropped before the TV series did.

And I loved it on the Neighbours when the Aliens said that their favourite Earth Tv series was 3rd Rock from the Sun.

There was a crappy movie made in 1990 called Spaced Invaders... A small squad of 4 foot tall Aliens invade Earth on Halloween and everyone mistakes them for trick or treating preschoolers... Or/and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

At one point they're threatening an over weight woman with their ray blaster, who still believes that they are uppity children... "Surrender Earthling or I'll turn you into toast! Actually... I'll turn you into a loaf of toast!"
