So, we know the strategy for season 1 was to have character arcs within more episodic storytelling rather than season-long story arcs. But were there any episodes you would've been interested in seeing as season-long/serialized arcs?

My vote would be "No." The formula worked well as-is. But if I had to pick, "Children of the Comet" might've been somewhat interesting, giving us opportunities to get to know the Shepherds more, seeing the comet bestow mercy and also judgment, inevitably leading to a predictable showdown over the fate of Earth.

I thought "The Elysian Kingdom" was a fine episode, but I wouldn't want a full season of Pike & crew in those getups!

What would your vote be and why?

No.

I never want to see any season long arc again.

Short arcs of two or three or 4 episodes are fine though. Whatever it takes to flesh out the story without filler. Some of the best ENT stories followed that formula. imo.

Agreed, but I would like to see 2 parters or maybe 3 as the limit if it's a good story. 4 episodes can be too long IMO.

None of them.

I admit a season of either “Strange New Worlds”, “Memento Mori”, “The Serene Squall”, “The Elysian Kingdom”, “All Those Who Wonder” or “A Quality of Mercy” would have made for interesting season long arcs in their own way. But I don’t think that SNW has made the episode that actually should be a season long arc yet.

I wonder if any of the episodes were originally conceived of as potential season arcs for DSC or the other shows, but then got majorly reworked, condensed and tailor-made for SNW.
Probably not. This season strikes me as testing out episodic and allowing that freedom to move on.

I'm fine with how they did the first season. They had the character progression and also returned to some storylines, but kept it episodic and that worked for me, and seemingly the first season.

Nö.

But I can see the potential in one or the other episode to being stretched out to a two- or three-parter. Specifically "All Those Who Wander" could have seen a benefit. To give Hemmer more time and especially to flesh out the Gorn's civilisation some more, to increase their compatibility with older depictions - by introducing the concept of species sub variants, which some fans like to speculate on, maybe...

Which would all be nice to have, but not a necessity. In some way they'd even risk over exposing the species this way, now that I think about it. There will be plenty opportunities to have a closer look at them any way since SNW turned out to be such a success.

SNW works exceptionally well the way it is set up right now. But I'd be very intrigued by some other (new, further down the line?) series doing a season long horror arc, for example.
