Any chance of Enterprise BluRay?

Moving it to blu-ray would be easy. Creating the extra content people expect on blu-ray would be an expense I'm not sure they are willing to invest. The extra content on the DVD seasons is some of the best of any series but I would not want them to just copy that over.

Seeing as how Enterprise is the red-headed step-child of the franchise (something DS9 used to be), I highly doubt it.

Though I, personally, would love to see it.

ENT has aired in native High Definition on several channels, so I can only assume that it could be released on Blu-Ray right now if TPTB wanted. In any case it probably will be the next Trek series to be released on BR, as it would not require any extra work to do so (i.e. no 'remastering' or whatever the proper term is).

Yes it aired in HD in Australia as well.

Cheers

Dave

P.S. Watched first contact in BR on the weekend, looked great.

The ENT DVDs I have already look fantastic on a good screen setup. And DS9 holds up very well on DVD also (especially the later seasons). But it sure would be great to have ENT on BluRay. I'd even consider double dipping.

I don't know even when you take into account that Enterprise is the least popular trek series it is the only other series other than TOS that could be put into high definition without re-editing and redoing the special effects shots for every single episode. That right there makes at least a bare bones blu-ray release more likely.

I expect an announcement from Paramount within the next couple of months.
Is this just wishful thinking or do you have any links to backup why you may expect an announcement this Spring?

Frankly it's just wishful thinking, but with all three seasons of TOS and the 11 motion pictures out on blu-ray, Trekwise Paramount has got nothing left to release in high def. Since it's unlikely they are willing to invest in getting TNG, DS9 and VOY out on blu-ray at this time (if ever, with the huge costs involved with making those shows ready for HD), ENT on blu-ray is a logical next stop. I'm counting on Paramount's greed here. Maybe I'm too optimistic, but an announcement wouldn't surprise me.

I mean Firefly got released on blu, and that show was cancelled after 14 episodes.

Least popular? hardly. I would honestly say that distinction goes top VOY as ENT is getting great ratings on HDNet - and although it wasn't taken into accpnt during the series run (as it is in some boardroom decisions today); ENT was in the top 5 of series that were DVRed for later viewing.

I've watched Voyager PAL DVD's upscaled to 1080p and they look pretty nice as well.

I don't own ENT on DVD so that's why I was asking.

I hope they release TNG/DS9/VOY on Blu Ray one day, just don't crop them.

Though I'm not sure if the effects were shot on video or film.

It would cost them a lot of money to re-do TNG, DS9, and VOY for Blu Ray, unfortunately. It would involve upgrading all the effects TOS Remastered style. I hope they decide to do it one day, though.

Everything, live action and special FX, were shot on film. The problem is they were edited together on video. So the completed episodes of TNG, DS9, and VOY exist entirely on videotape.
