Anson Mount as Pike SAVES This Show! Wow.

Imagine a show featuring Kirk, one of the most iconic characters in science fiction, reporting to Burnham

Kirk's a lieutenant, she's a commander.

:p

You know, my first reaction to this is that they just wouldn't go there, and if they did it really wouldn't fit what we know of Kirk's history.

But then I thought about it some more, and realized, yeah, they probably would go there, especially if there was a perceived need to give the show a boost. And 2258 isn't necessarily too early for Kirk to be an XO (though it might be pushing it a bit, and it's certainly too early for a captaincy). And we really don't know much (canonically — there's lots in the books) about his career between the Farragut and the Enterprise.

So I guess I wouldn't bet against it...

Kirk in 2258 is 25 or so. He could be an XO in training. It certainly seemed like Burnham was trained under Geogiou at that age.

Kelvin Kirk was a Captain at that age (lol).

It wouldn't be out of the box for Kurtzman and friends to go there. Besides at SDCC, Kurtzman said that he encourages the writers to bend canon as much as possible without breaking it. Hence why we have Pike on Discovery and probably Spock and Kirk next.... if CBS needs the subscriptions (which they will).

I just want to see the silly scene where Burnham introduces Kirk to Spock, and they both praise Michael Burnham as their mentor. Would have definitely happened under the Fuller regime.

Improvement, but I think gold collars would have looked better and fit more in the uniform look of this time period.

The black collar uniforms didn't really roll around on the Enterprise till after Where No Man Has Gone Before.
Agreed. I'm surprised that they went with such bright colors too instead of the muted style of Where No Man Has Gone Before.

Good improvement, just need to lower that collar a bit so he doesn't look like he's suffocating.

I'm glad you got rid of the silly marching band gold stripe from the front.

I gave it a shot and I actually like it as one solid color.

That looks good.
That’s my point. It won’t affect story telling much, except for the fact that we now know for sure we are not in Prime and are not bound by its limitations.
Since when do people bother with the whole CBS telling us its Prime thing? Pretty sure that was abandoned a while back by "reasonable fans." ;)
