The most important thing I take out of this trailer: They DIDN'T simply forgot about the spore-jump-drive! They'll use it again at one point in the season. Good.
They shouldn't just brush it under the rug.

But still - they now have to come up with a pretty good explanation why it will never, ever be used again in the future - not even for a single jump where it could save countless lifes (like just ONE jump to bring the crew of Voyager home, or directly attack the Dominion homeworld before everything is lost). That'll be a challenge. But they decided to open this can of worms in the first place - I'll judge them on how well they manage to clean that mess up afterwards.

"It's the network--it's sealed itself off from us!"

Or

"If we use the network even one more time, it will destroy the universe and there's nothing we can do about it."

Or

"Stamets was the only one with the genetic ability. There's no one left who can navigate the network now."

Or

"Stamets went into the network. And he closed the door behind him."

I don't think it will be hard to write the network out.

They've had so much behind-the-scenes strife and staff turnover, I'm not sure the people who came up with the spore drive are the same people who have to clean up the mess.

i gonna have a lot of anxiety attacks waiting for the new episode every week, that trailer was awesome

"It's the network--it's sealed itself off from us!"

Would be perfect!

"If we use the network even one more time, it will destroy the universe and there's nothing we can do about it."

Wouldn't work for me as an explanation - it's connected to the entire multiverse - someone else from one of the infinite universe would definitely use it at one point in time, and destroy the entire universe because of that.

"Stamets was the only one with the genetic ability. There's no one left who can navigate the network now."

Disproven in the first season, where everyone could have taken the gene therapy. Would need some serious retconning ("Stamets was the chosen one to connect the universe, that's why he was attracted to it in the first place to inject himself with the Tardigrade DNA")

"Stamets went into the network. And he closed the door behind him."

Also a perfectly viable explanation/end.
Though I'd hate to lose Stamets as a character on DIS - he's great!

I don't think it will be hard to write the network out.

YES!
It would absolutely not be hard to do so! My only real expectation is that they actually HAVE to do it at one point!
And then - when they do it - the explanation should withstand some easy logic.

I figure at some point that it was decided it just wasn’t practical. You have to augment a human which is illegal, Stamets probably only got away with it because it was a time of war and various other factors that got filed as classified. It does affect his health and may possibly have even worse effects on him later in life and Starfleet decided it just wasn’t worth the risk and got filed away as some low level research project that may payoff in the future, but still hasn’t advanced by the 24th century. Even Stamets seemed like he was done with it and at peace with that. Warp may be slower, but it is reliable and doesn’t risk anyone’s life. Transwarp may even be an attempt to travel the network using warp technology.

Anyone else see the Kelpien strapped to a wall before what appears to some type of alien creature? Possibly going to see the Ba'ul this season?

Saru's sister from the Short Trek is also in the trailers.
I didn't notice that, but it doesn't surprise me. I suspected from the start that we hadn't seen the last of her when I watched the Short Trek, and that suspicions grew when she was mentioned in the premier.
