Another Missing Episode Found!

Exactly which one will be revealed in a couple of hours at the British Film Institute's annual "Missing Believed Wiped" event. From some of the hints being dropped it could be the Xmas Day episode from "The Daleks Master Plan".

I know the new Dalek Xmas ident is meant to debut today...

Of course if there's also a missing episode (I'm hearing either an episode of The underwater Menace or The Space Pirates, and one of Galaxy 4), then it's no coincidence that they'll announce it when there's also a new DW-related ident...

So, Galaxy 4 episode #3 and Underwater Menace episode #2 have been found. Which doesn't even complete either missing DW story, but hey, after all this time it's still good to know they're out there.

Obviously ANY episodes found is a good thing, it's just a pity that neither of them could be from any of the true classics.

Incredible news. Only a few weeks ago I was posting on the BBS about how the discovery of the previously-thought-lost Julie Newmar SF sitcom of the 60s, My Living Doll, raised hope that other shows thought lost might turn up like those missing Whos. I don't care what story they're from - it's two more pieces of the puzzle.

There are two things worth noting in the Radio Times report: the fact 2 Entertain may do a second Lost in Time set built around these episodes and the fact the BBC is pursuing other leads. Fingers crossed that might result in more surprise announcements before long!

Apparently the Underwater Menace episode is the earliest surviving complete episode with Troughton and even includes footage of him playing the recorder! It's also the earliest Jamie episode in the archives.

Doctor Who News Page link (with additional embeds of the videos which I can play here in Canada fine - no geolocking). Also mentions 2 Entertain is supposed to make an announcement in 2012 regarding DVD release.

Now, this definately qualifies as a Christmas miracle. :techman: I've seen the Loose Cannon version of 'Galaxy 4', and now to have an actual episode returned from that very serial is just, in the words of the Ninth Doctor, FANTASTIC!!!
