i just hope they can turn up the Ice Warriors...
yeah, i was expecting another joke thread. i am pleasantly surprised. When I first clicked this I was waiting for some joke reveal. Always good to find footage.
From some of the hints being dropped it could be the Xmas Day episode from "The Daleks Master Plan".

But that was never transferred to film, so highly unlikely we'll ever find it.

But there's still the chance of some form of off-air recording. Not videotape, obviously, but there were home kinescoping kits at one time, or someone could have simply pointed an 8mm camera at the screen. We have the soundtrack, so if something like that ever turned up (I'm hoping someone in Canada decided to do that when Marco Polo aired here in 1965) the Feast of Steven episode could be recreated. We also don't know (unless this is confirmed otherwise in Telos' Wiped book) if a film copy wasn't made anyway, for reference or whatever.
A decade or so ago we had Ian Levine go on camera and say there would likely never be any more missing episodes found. Yet now we have two impossibilities that have come true (I'm sure Levine is not complaining about being proven wrong several times since he made his statement) - and I'm fascinated by that statement in the Radio Times about leads being followed. If I were a betting man I'd put a few bucks down on more missing episodes being recovered before the 50th anniversary.

Hi all,
Yesterday (Thursday) I travelled down to visit a family in Essex who contacted the BBC via the Treasure Hunt website. They bought a house in the country 8 months ago which featured in the grounds a makeshift cinema, complete with projectors and reels of film. One of the films was a Doctor Who and from their description of the first few feet of film, it featured the first title sequence.
Myself and Steve Roberts examined the film which turned out to be 'Conspiracy', the third episode of 'The Romans'. Nevertheless, it proves that despite what we think is a lot of publicity, people of a certain age just don't know what they have and in this case, the enthusiast film collector had been dead for ten years and his wife suffered from Alzheimers.
I'm sure that one or two more episodes will turn up in the hands of private collectors who simply don't know the value of what they have, or will be re-discovered by others who come into new ownership of such material.
Regards,
Paul
Excuse me! "Galaxy 4" inspired the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band's song "Beautiful Zelda." Now we can see just what it was about "Galaxy 4" that prompted Neil Innes to write a song about it.Wow, this is fantastic news!
That being said, it's a pity they're two episodes from two not-so good serials. But here's hoping this will lead to discovery episodes from better serials in the near future.
Wow, this is almost as exciting as the episodes find themselves!CNN also covered it:

Edit: New York Times now, too. This increased awareness of missing episodes is a good thing as it might inspire some ex-pat in Akron to check that steamer trunk he brought with him when he immigrated back in 1968 ...
In the comments someone says this was "almost predicted" in last week's episode of Community. Anyone see that - did "Inspector Spacetime" make a return appearance or something?
