Another Lit Wish List Thread

-Diane Carey's Robert April. I've always loved her version of him (Best Destiny is the first Star Trek novel that I recall reading, and I was very small, 6?), and seeing April, his wife Sarah, Florida, George Kirk, and others having adventures would be soooo muuuuuch fuuuuun.

-More Andorians, preferably by Heather Jarman. I love the four-sexed species and I want to hear more about them. What's going on now that they're in the Typhon Pact? Will they ever rejoin the Federation? What's the hope for their species? Failing more novels about Andoria, I'd love to see more Andorian crewmembers become main-cast like Shar was in the DS9R so that we can get more worldbuilding-through-proxy-lens.

-The time between the end of the DS9 Relaunch and Destiny. What happened to Sisko to jade him? Why did Kira resign? How'd Dax wind up with the Aventine? Who's staffing the station now and how have they been doing?

My favorite, totally long shot, idea:

-Diane Duane Rihannsu. I realize that their canon is kind of fuzzy (the ch'Havran and Remus discrepancy, for one) but it's such an excellent fleshing out of an alien culture and I far prefer it to what we saw on-screen. It wouldn't even have to be full novels. I really want to know how Ael's Empresshood worked out, what happened to Arrhae and if she ever went back to the Federation even just for a bit, etc, etc.

One thing I'd love is to see a semi-predictable schedual for the continuing series. The four relaunches, Titan, New Frontier, and maybe Aventine need a consitent at-least-one-book-per-year schedual. I would think this would be a good business decision as well. You won't loose readers if it's not years in between enties.

They're not in the Typhon Pact, and I'm not sure where you got that idea from. Andor seceded from the Federation, that's all.

good... go a step further and sell book subscriptions like magazines. x$ gets all of the books mailed to you for a year! I'd buy 1:drool:

I realise it's not even Lit-canon, never mind screen-canon, but those are some questions I very specifically plan on answering in my DS9 Season 10 project, which is linked to in my sig.

.

I'd be very interested in that except for the fact that I'm sure all those questions will eventually be answered in the real novels. The only problem is the waiting.

I didn't really see it as anything that needed that much more of an explanation than what what we got in the books.
She eventually decided to transfer off of DS9, and then when the Borg invasion started her Captain and XO (?) were killed and she got command.

That sounds like a great idea. But can we afford almost $100 just like that? I often have to wait for months and then buy two or three at once. I got an Amazon gift card for my birthday and I want online to order six books. Then over the last couple of months I've been able to add a couple more to the list. I think I'm set until November.

For me it depends on the time of year, Christmas or my birthday no problem. Also since paper would be such a large part of the cost a significant discount for ebook delivery would work best for me anyway. Almost 100? I was guessing closer to 125-150 for dead-tree delivery with hardcover, trade, and mass market PB in the mix. Perhaps 60-75 would be fair for ebooks? February and December are the months I can afford new books anyway otherwise its used books and not very often for those either. I sometimes TRY to put away funds for upcoming books but murphy's law tends to have it's way.

Pocket don't do hardcovers any more, and there aren't more than one or two trades in any given year (NF, ENT maybe, an anthology) so most are mmpbs, and at $7.99 each, that makes it just shy of $96 for the year, add taxes and a trade and yeah, it probably will push it up to $125. I'd be willing to do that, but there are occasionally books I don't want, and I wouldn't want to be tied in to getting them - and they couldn't usually offer selections since they don't have the books planned out that far in advance that they can actually tell us about.

I'm still waiting for the Memory Beta 2012 page to be updated with the books that are known. The logistics would be a nightmare.

My wish list consists of a post-Ex Machina book or two from Christopher, more good Titan, more Voyager re-relaunch from Kirsten, another Vanguard-style series with a beginning-middle-end and the wrap-up to the Ascendant storyline. The DS9 relaunch started so well with Avatar, continued to be great through Warpath and then kind of fizzled.

I'd be willing to do the subscription because I'd read them all even the books I normally wouldn't bother getting. Also because I like supporting the writes when I get the chance, since it isn't like they see anything from second hand book sales.

my wish list would be 1 each TNG, DS9, S31, Titan, Aventine, Voyager, COE, NF; all set continuing the Typhon Pact storyline and an Enterprise novel set after the Romulan war.

Some of the more notable fanfics of the 70's and 80's to be collected and released. Stuff like "Alternate Universe 4", "Yesteryear, Today and Tomorrow", "Sahaj", "Dreadnought Explorations", "Kraith" and "The Weight", all under some "best of old fanfic" banner.

Unless they all suck. The only ones I've read were "Alternate Universe 4", which I enjoyed and a few "Kraith" stories which were a bit hit and miss. The others sound facinating from what I've read about them.
