Another Lit Wish List Thread

No one else thinks that a fictional Kirk biography would be an interesting read? :(

I've said this before, but I'd really like to read the autobiography of James T. Kirk that Peter David mentioned and excerpted a couple of times in New Frontier.

There was a paragraph-or-so excerpt in "Once Burned" of Kirk musing on the various crazed Starfleet captains he encountered, and concluding that the only difference between them and him was that he got lucky. The other was in "Renaissance," where a character speaking to Scotty tells him that he never got over the destruction of the first Enterprise, saying that he read that bit of psychoanalysis in Kirk's book.

I agree with Christopher that a Kirk penned autobiography (maybe it would actually be ghost written as an injoke about The Shat and the Reeves-Stevens :) ) would downplay his achievements and take a historical perceptive with them. He'd want to treat them that they were just part of his job. Kirk never really was comfortable with his "Celebrity" status and seemed to be pretty private.

I'd like to see a Enterprise story anthology and standalone novels being published.I'd like to seenew Ds9 novels that are standalone novels that have nothing to do with the post Destiny or typhon pact books that take place during the tv series.

This is what I would like to see personally:
  • Starfleet Intelligence - A series set in the Typhon Pact era with SI working with allied intelligence agencies (like Klingon Intelligence) in combating the machinations of the Pact whilst attempting to not cross some moral/ethical lines with Section 31 being in the background as well.
  • DTI - An interesting concept from what i have seen in Watching the Clock and wouldnt mind seeing more of them with it fixing up some plotlines temporal plotlines from the show as well as some of those enemies like the Sphere Builders.
  • Spock Reunification - I always enjoy the insights into Vulcan and Romulan society so perhaps a trilogy or something based on Spock trying to keep the peace between Vulcans, Romulans, Remans and others like the Watraii.
  • Legend of Surak - Again, based on my love of the Vulcans, wouldnt mind seeing a novel or trilogy even from Surak's perspective on ancient Vulcan and combating the forces of chaos whilst he attempting to bring about peace to his world.
  • Post First Contact Earth - A novel or two about how Earth changed after first contact with the Vulcans with the rise of the United Earth government along with the creation of Starfleet.
Beyond that, the regular of DS9/VOY/ENT Relaunch books with plotlines like the Ascendants, Romulan War etc etc being covered.

Didn't Spock's World cover Surak bringing peace to Vulcan?

Yes it did but I wouldnt mind seeing the new material seen from Enterprise being seen like the Kir'Shara being made and how come the Vulcans decided to have a taboo on mind melds after Surak's death. Plus, as a Vulcan fan, I'm always watching for more novels about them and Surak :p

...how come the Vulcans decided to have a taboo on mind melds after Surak's death.

We don't know how much time elapsed between those two events. All we know is that the taboo existed by the 22nd century, but that's 1800 years after Surak died.

I figured I should avoid this thread after my last boo boo, but I was just watching TNG Justice and thought I story providing background story to the Edo god would be interesting. Since it can exist in different places, perhaps Titan could find another world protected by it.

I wouldn't mind a Starfleet medical series. I still would be interested in a Star Trek:Palais de la Concorde series :)

I just thought of something else I would love to see, the incorporation of the Elite Force characters into the Novelverse. I think those game created a really cool group of characters who could easily fit into the Novelverse, and who I would love to see explored in more depth.

After just finishing KRAD's excellent Jellico one shot comic...I would absolutely LOVE a Jellico Cairo series now. Hell, screw it, I'd be satisfied with just one Cairo book but it'd have to be written by Keith and feature the crew that were depicted in the one shot. I've always been a fan of Jellico since seeing him in "Chain in Command Part I". The episodes should have really been called "Get it Done Part I" and "Get it Done Part II" :)

^^^
A Jellico story would be great. Just don't let Peter David touch it.

I would like to see a novel series based on the aborted television series Star Trek : Phase II. It would be interesting to explore how the addition of Xon, Decker, and Ilia and the absence of Spock affects the TOS crew and their adventures.

Cannon says that's not possible. See Star Trek; TMP.

This are number of science fiction concepts available that would allow a book or series of books based on Phase II to be written without violating canon.

I'd love to see a fic written about Edo in the "S.T.: Enterprise" era (before, during or after the Earth-Romulan War?) Possibly the Preservers? The Organians? Other? Possibly a pre-quel to "The Buried Age" by Christopher L. Bennett?

I've never been a fan of Jellico as he came off as way too off-the-charts Obsessive Compulsive in a Roddenberry future where such aggressive bluster has been brow-beaten into the background by modern civilian politics where someone would just look at you and say "are you quite finished? go work out your issues in the holodeck."

A Starfleet Medical series (kind of like Star Trek crossed with James Whites' Sector General series, seasoned with ER).

I Would be onboard for this as well

I could see this as well.
