Anonymous Internet Personalities

You always hear about characters who have made a name for themselves - for better or worse, by using the internet. It can be as simple as a forum poster with a talent for something like photoshop or it can be someone who maintains an anonymous blog that gives away inside information about various subjects.

It's something that definitely intrigues me and it goes to show that without the internet, these people would remain in obscurity. Here's a couple of the most famous anonymous internet personalities:

John Titor: Not the TrekBBS poster, but an internet user who was famous for claiming that he was a time traveller from the future. His claims were argued with some well thought arguments that attracted a lot of attention at the time.
aXXo: The alias of a file sharer who made high quality movie cracks. The person(s) work was at one time, the most downloaded movie cracks from BitTorrent.

I'm interested in hearing from everyone about any of these types of internet personalities that you've encountered.

I love Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Just reminded me of when Lost was in it's early days. On one of the big forums, this guy posted a massive unified theory attempting to explain where the show was going. It was unlike anything ever seen and contained some impressive comic book style illustrations by the poster himself.

In hindsight, it was no where close to how the show turned out but it was an extremely good effort and attracted a lot of attention at the time.

There used to be a poster here (during the time Enterprise was still airing) who would reveal tidbits and spoiler-y information about upcoming episodes.

One poster, years ago, going by the username Dalamar7 had a lot of us going with the hoax that he/she had been a personal wardrobe person at Paramount and had seen most of the Trek actors naked/nearly naked and described them all to us. Can't remember how he/she was outed as a fraud, but it was funny watching that thread unfold.

Yeah, I remember Morpheus. Cool dude. Even though I've learned to avoid spoilers since then.

I hope he's done well for himself or at least found another show to be a part of. Obviously, he can never reveal who he was to us or else he'd get blackballed in Hollywood. And, it's not like he can have a death bed book or something, since there would only be 20 people or so who would know who he is. But it's a cool little thing to be a part of.

That's a great example that's reminded me of Lost again. Just before the season 3 finale, an anonymous person basically spoiled the entire episode by posting a full synopsis that quickly went viral. It was a massive deal at the time, yet they managed to remain anonymous. It was said that the showrunners and the production team even set a trap to try and catch the person after they posted details for the season 4 finale the following year!

That was hilarious. Didn't one of their fun little tidbits of accuse Berman of being a racist with regards to Brooks. Or am I thinking about another "fake behind the scenes info" person?

They ruin it for themselves when they make outrageous claims like that. If it's just minor things that have an element of truth to them, people won't be quick to dismiss the poster as a fake.

It's like the people who post fake spoilers for TV shows. The spoilers start out small, yet informative and then eventually become so "out there" that it's hard to take the "insider" seriously.

My aunt and her daughter came to stay over for the holidays and I spend days with her daughter. She told to me that I'm cute and kissed me and huged me. She sat on my legs too and pinched me on the face. So on New Years, I go to her room and told her I loved her but she just got angry at me so I got upset and yelled at her. She started cussing atr me and I couldn't believe that. I was very furious. I went blank and said no more at her. Everyone got up and got mad then she and my aunt went home to day. I think she teased me and then got upset when I reacted back to her. It was natural to do like this. What was she expecting and acted that way to me for?
