Andrew Koenig has died

Re: Boner Bummer

I'm sorry if offended people with the thread title, it was not my intent. The Misc. mods are free to change it.

I also, in my comments about suicide, did not mean to speak ill of Mr. Koeing.

It's very tragic that he died and felt he had no way out other than to take his own life. It is sad. And I certain;y mean no offense or ill-will towards the man in my comments here or in the thread title.

Title edited.

Under different circumstances, a title like that could likely be received in a more light-hearted way. But this was not an elderly actor retiring to the afterlife, so when you title a suicide similar to a New York Post political potshot, you're going to be seen this way. Hope that helps you understand.

He should have had many years in front of him and this is obviously very hard on his friends and family. Very sad to hear.

Re: Boner Bummer

Not to speak ill of the dead, but the suicidal usualy are pretty selfish, in that they don't think much about what their actions will impact on their surviving loved ones.

Go fuck yourself.

While I can understand Trekker's sentiment is offensive, please, don't start flaming people in a memorial thread. Let's all try to be respectful in this memorial thread.

RIP Andrew Koenig. My thoughts go out to his family and friends right now.

Doubleoh, please pass the word along to other friends of Andrew that we grieve with you.

It is a hard thing for celebrities in that all of their most private moments -- even those of darkest grief -- must be shared with strangers. Because *we* know *them*, they must share their lives with us. That is an unfair burden, and must make this doubly hard to bear. I can only hope that some solace comes from the fact that so many strangers feel their pain, and commiserate with them, and the fact that they are so beloved by so many can, is some slight way, ease the pain.

I feel for the whole Koenig family, and for all of Andrew's friends.

I will pray for Andrew, and the whole Koenig family.

Tony

Thanks, jkladis, and, FWIW, may I reiterate my sincere condolences to the Koenig family at what must be an extremely dark and terrible time for them.

What horrible news. I can't imagine the pain of losing ones son in this way. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Re: Boner Bummer

He visited friends and then killed himself? What the fuck?

You obviously don't know anything about people who are suicidal.

They tend to gather family and/or friends for 'one last hang out' before they kill themselves, which is something they already have planned to do.

A co-worker of mine from work invited a bunch of his friends (guys from work) over to play cards. After they left, he jumped out his 17th story window. He was depressed because his mom had passed away about a year before and he didn't take it well.

For the first time in seven years, you've given me hope that my mom's death was not a suicide as I've always believed. She had several health problems, and right before she died (of an "accidental" overdose), she told me "I can't take it anymore", because of this, I've always believed she killed herself. But, she was not suicidal, and there was no gathering or anything like that.

Oh no this is upsetting news even though I didn't know Andrew Koeing personally this is so sad and my thoughts and prayers go out to the Koeing family at this sad passing RIP Andrew.

Man, this sucks, I can't imagine the grief his parents are going through, both that their son is dead, and that it was by his own hand. The thoughts of what if they must be thinking has to be terrible. I didn't knew him personally, but I wish I did, not because I'd want to be part of the grief, but becuase he sounds like he was a great guy. There's nothing I can say that'd ease the pain his family and friends are suffering from right now, except that they all have my deepest condolences, and that the world seems like it's emptier now.

I watched Walter Koeing and Judy Levitt speak last night (on TV), and my hear broke for them.

Goodbye, Andrew. May you RIP.

.

He was not being selfish. When you get that depressed, it messes with your thought process. You have no idea what Andrew was thinking or feeling when he decided to take his own life. Often suicidal people think that their loved ones will be better off without them.

BTW, the thread title sucks.

This is very sad, and the entire STAR TREK BBS, I'm sure is sad about his actions. No father would want to this to happen to his son.:(
