Spoilers Andor season one

I wanted to say how could you get away with having a human represent the home system of an alien species, but I guess there’s humans everywhere?

It’d just be a little weird to hear something like “the senator from Rodia is here” and you look up and it’s some dude named Kevin

According to Legends/old EU sources, the Senate was majority human as alien senators tended to be replaced by humans, and power was concentrated in the core worlds that had majority human populations. Maybe a lot of alien planets outside the core had no real representation to speak of, and their "interests" we're nominally lumped under the proverbial umbrella of the nearest human planet.

On the matter of "near human" species, I wonder if any tie-in materials have ever gone into any of their origins and/or biological relation to "Earth-type" humans.

I mean, it's an elective process so they could elect anyone. Also, part of the Clone Wars was slowly draining the Separatists (mostly aliens) of their wealth and resources, allowing the Republic/Empire to step in and assert control.

Fantastic episode. I loved what L was wearing at the end! Can't wait for the next one, sad as I'll be we're near the end of the season. Every week I have the same reaction, my main complaint with the episode is that it ends. That's a great place to be for a series. I'd love a la Star Trek three more with different settings shot this way.

(Through ep 8)
Now they're doing straight satire on private prisons.

Should be called White Is The New Orange.
They’re exploring another part of fascist regimes like they’ve done in every aspect of the series. It’s not all shiny boots on warships and emperors giving speeches you know. Other series should pay attention. Plus it’s touching on Lucas’s THX1138 and even a bit of what it’s like to work at an Apple plant in Asia.

What I'm seeing is the same sort of thing Orange is the New Black was getting at. Using captive people as robots because it's cheaper, then finding excuses never to let anyone out. Arbitrarily extending sentences. That kind of thing. This is not something that happens in third world countries, this is private prisons in the US.

Even better. I never watched OITNB, how was Mulgrew?

Which makes it relevant and topical, and the hallmark of fascist empires. It makes sense that it would be in the series.

Exactly what everyone wants from Star Wars: A show that has basically nothing to do with Star Wars, that could easily be transplanted into a modern day show with only a few slight (and mostly cosmetic) changes, and is just as badly written and boring as every other nearly identical "prestige" show that gets shat out every year.

I just want fun and adventure and characters that aren't dull, soulless flesh golems wandering around spouting monotonous bullshit and accomplishing nothing. At this point I'm apologizing for every criticism I gave towards Book of Boba Fett and Kenobi, at least they were actual Star Wars shows that fit in the universe and had interesting things happen. I hope they don't take the snobs praising this show as motivation to make more boring, pointless shit like this, thats really the only way that Disney could "ruin" Star Wars, by giving in to the people that never liked the franchise in the first place.

Are you going to do this for every episode? No one is forcing you to watch or participate. When I came to the realization that I fucking hated ST-D, Picard, Prodigy, Kenobi (well, didn't even give it a second glace though Auralnaut's larry is damn funny), Book of Boba Fett, the Sequels, and The Mandalorian I simply shut up, reached over, and turned the channel. Worst thing it did was cut into my activity on the forum. We get it, you find it depressing and dull but this is how this stuff goes. Revolutions are bloody, gritty, sordid affairs with ilicit blood money and hot guns and sacrificial infantry units doing plots and plans barely worth the effort.

The main thing of a revolution IRL is them honestly staying to their ideals and NOT turning into authoritarian bloodthristy shits, and honestly, reality has shown they often do not resist the temptation. Stuff like the USA is the exception, not the rule, and the American revolution was full of terrorism, civilians being caught in the crossfire, spies, cutthroat diplomacy, hurt innocents. We just won so we don't care. Entire populations were uprooted and moved about, like the loyalists. If that happened today no one would let it down, and the more democratic elements of it were shot down by a mercantile elite core running the business, Thomas Paine was seen as a threat as much as Wiliam Pitt at times by Franklin and Washington, the vote was given to white men of age with land, and screw everything else as the states immediately rushed to the world stage in basically, a ill-fitting coat trying to keep their economies afloat.

Yes, this is exactly what I wanted from Star Wars. I was tired of stuff with meaningless (keyword- meaningless) fanservice and the force and everything. Andor is much more grounded and shows the reality of the empire.

Anyway, back to Ep 10. I loved it. Thats! That's how they got around the floors, with water. I was not expecting that but it's so obvious in retrospect. And ooh, Luthen has a deep, deep mole in the ISB.

Also: Re Aliens - well, we did see quite a few this episode. They're literally stuffed into the undercity. Which is, well it was the same during the Republic but now I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional.

What will Mon Mothma do? I can't see her taking the offer, but who knows, it will make for interesting TV.

It would be cool if she doesn't go that route though and decides to take more of a risk.

I have to wonder if you ever wanted Star Wars in the first place. Or if you simply wanted a well-made science-fiction series from the SYFY Channel. Well, you got it with "Andor". Which makes me wonder if this will solely be the future of the franchise. If so, I just might part ways with the Star Wars franchise. And I still believe "Obi-Wan Kenobi" was the best thing I've seen from Lucasfilm in recent years.

are we getting two more episodes or are season 1 finished now after epi 10?
