Spoilers Andor season one

Stunning episode and series.
"I can't swim". Oh man....

I feel like this is Star Wars I could recommend to anyone. That I could sit down and watch with anyone because it's not about Star Wars, it's about the story that's taking place within that world. Whether the setting is in space or in the 20th century they both still resonate because of the writing.

I have indeed recommended this series to people who would have zero interest in a SW show on its face. And they have told me they were very glad that I did.

Which is high praise for a series. Genre fiction shouldn't be so insular that people outside of it can't access it.

ETA: It should have read "shouldn't" not "should"

There's still 2 episodes left.
That would explain a lot. But still, most of my comments stand. I really feel this season should have more of Cassian being a rebel. Some of the stuff is cool, but the pacing is so slow.

(shouldn't) But, yeah, exactly. SW has definitely been guilty of crawling up its own ass more than once. Andor shows you can have a great show that lives and breathes the SW universe, but isn't gate kept by insular storytelling choices and needless references to other parts of the franchise.

Season 1 covered a single year abouts, season 2 will cover 4. So we may get more of that.

We're pretty short of the one year mark on the show thus far. Most of it took place over a few days, with a time jump as Cassian spent one or two months in prison.

I can't imagine there will be a significant time jump at this point, as all of the pieces are moving into place for what will presumably be a showdown on Ferrix. But we'll see! This show has been anything but predictable so far.

Fantastic! The whole theme of this series, about liberation from an oppressive empire, and taking your power into your own hands, has been on point and culminates into real action so beautifully in this episode. Just well done all around. This whole episode is about class awareness, about knowing who you are, who your friends and comrades are, and where you are in relation to power systems that seek to manipulate you into doing their work for their benefit at the cost of your life and the lives of your friends.

Just fantastic!

Yeah, my bad. Yes, it shouldn't be. And quite honestly, it's what drove me away from being in fan groups and going to conventions was the insular way stories were presented. "Oh, this is for the fans," or "We fans know what's best." Come on. Leave this elitist attitude behind and enjoy the parts of the franchise you actually like, rather than telling me I'm wrong for liking some things and not liking others.

Amazing acting from both Andy Serkis and Stellan Skarsgard. Hope they get nominated for relevant awards.

Kino totally knew he wasn't going to escape. He was just happy to see his boys get out. All he was trying to do all along was look after them, he just changed the method once he learned there was no release.

I don't understand this sentiment at all. This show isn't slow: it's like the drawing of a bow string. Each week you think it can't get any tighter. Surely this time, you think, that arrow will loose. But it doesn't and it just gets more and more taut.

At least, until today. That arrow shot out of there like it was fired from a gun.

If this show gets any better at tension and release it'll turn downright erotic.

He should have jumped. Others might have been able to help him make it to land.
Kino needs to learn how to trust. He can't swim, but his comrades wouldn't let him drown, and Cassian certainly wouldn't. It's a lesson that says, at least to me, that if we really want to advance forward, we have to start putting at least some faith and trust in the abilities of others to go and do what we can't, and to help us get there with them. We don't have to go through these trials alone.

I hope that's true and we see him again, if only in a background sea of rebel fighters on Yavin.

I really like the idea that we never find out what happens to him. Let it be a mystery; Cassian changed the course of his life, but he'll never know what happened afterward, or even if he made it off the platform. Ambiguity is undervalued these days.

Exactly. I prefer it that way, as well.

Besides, there's no way he'd show up again just to be "in the background." Either he has a substantial part or nothing.
