Spoilers Andor - Season 2

Found on Threads. If Andor were a 1990s EU novel. :)

I don't want to sound like a "the past was so much better than today" kind of cunt, but damn it, book covers really were so much better in the past than they are today.

Loved Andor S1, loved Andor S2 even more! And I think what it does to Rogue One (which I'm rewatching immediately after finishing S2) is amazing. Instead of a stand-alone movie, R1 becomes the third season of Andor (or the cinematic culmination). The way they evolved the imagery and tech in the series to seamlessly match the movie is commendable. They even had Cassian cut his hair, comb it, and part it on the left in the last episode so he looks like Cassian in the opening of R1. K2SO is now a much more complex character in R1. Even seeing minor characters you might have forgotten about in R1 -- like the Yavin base commander -- are suddenly just there and it makes sense.

The only issue never resolved was who Cassian's sister is/was. The too-obvious choice would be Kleya, and I also read somewhere in this thread the suggestion that it was Dedra. Hey, maybe it's Jyn Erso, which would keep alive the Star Wars tradition of retconned sibling makeouts....

Sad to see this series go, but happy to have had the opportunity to watch it. Masterclass in Star Wars lore!

Finally finished Andor s2. Liked it, but the first arc was rough and I'm still a little miffed and mystified about 'the imperials are finally effective'!. They're still a bit too ineffective for my taste. Kleya in the hospital was a big one. She hitmans it, and that's fine, but at least like, wait a stair above for the ISB to rush out, then run in after them, don't try to squirrel in. She could (and should had) been intercepted/shot there. The ISB grunts are hilariously ineffective, so was that guard for Ghorst, and even the guys on Ghorman were lacking a bit - why weren't those ties strafing vehicles/streets/crowds after a while, for example? Too much? It's definitely not too much, look at the 'battle of Jayuya', you can definitely send aircraft to bomb towns. TIEs, when employed, still die too easily, honestly. Like the TIE Avenger robbery, have one of the ties peel off from the obvious trap. Make some of those pilots survive....

I gripe a lot, not much praise for me to say, but it's there. I do like this show, honestly! The scenes with Luthen and Kleya in the last arc were also pretty gut-wrenching as someone who had to 'deal' with ones own father in a hospital, and the world-building was still great. Ghorman especially got fleshed out a lot - the french resistance in SPACEEE! and that's a good thing. Just noting a few things that stubbed me.

Love the expansion of aliens as a bit of eye-candy. Someone noticed people bemoaning the lack of aliens in s1, then boom. Nearly every alien you can think of. The Rhydo scene and speech were exemplary. Was glad Luthen turned out to be a disgrunted sergeant, probably very early imperial or even in the Republic era turning Imperial, that got sick of the wanton massacres, and not some Jedi.

Wish it got a full five season or more run cause every arc was boiled down to the bare bones, would had loved years of this show.

The sister was, frankly, just a signal to us about cassian. She's gone, forever. It's not Kleya, it's not Dedra, it's not Jyn. It's a big galaxy, and Cassian ends up focused on something bigger. If he actually walked out on the Rebellion (and survived Luthen) then maybe he would had gone back looking for her, but she's gone now. it was never supposed to be a big important thing for us, other than to show us Cassian is driven and focused.
