The Roots of ‘Andor’ Lore Run Deep
The ‘Star Wars’ series’ Ghorman Massacre has a hidden, 35-year-old origin story

That's why the sequel trilogy makes no sense. Kylo Ren has to know that Han's offer to come home with him is nonsensical as the New Republic will be hunting him over Hosnian (unless Leia has some sort of immunity deal ready but it's never mentioned, and going by Bloodline her influence over the New Republic was shot. Don't even get into Han and Chewie running from Kanjiklub etc.). Same with Hux being a spy--it makes no sense unless Hux got some sort of secret promise that he'll be immune from prosecution in return for spying on the First Order.
The Mandalorian is mid-tier Star Wars on its best day.The less we talk about the quality of the Disney sequels the better![]()
For me Rogue One and Andor is peak Star Wars and then there is a considerable gap and is followed by Mandalorian and then an even larger gap before the rest slots in somehow.
Turns out K-2SO was originally going to be introduced in a horror episode (for episode 9) but was ultimately scrapped because they couldn't afford it, according to Tony Gilroy via Entertainment weekly:
“Dan Gilroy wrote an amazing, entirely self-contained episode that was episode 209,” Gilroy reveals, referring to his brother and Andor writer. “It was an amazing episode that was like a horror movie.”So what exactly happened in this scrapped K-2SO horror movie episode that was originally slated to be episode 9 of season 2? “It was the K2 story,” Gilroy explains. “They had to bring this huge ugly tanker ship to Yavin, and there was a KX unit that was trapped inside there hunting. It was sort of like a monster movie with K2 on it. It was really cool.”As for why the entire episode never made it to the filming stage, it came down to a matter of economics. “We could not afford to do it,” sighs Gilroy. “It was made clear that it was out of the range, so we had to abandon that and consolidate things.” That consolidation also meant moving up Mon Mothma’s big senate speech, which was originally slated for episode 10.
I'm fine with that. if the show was running four seasons, sure, there might be room for that. But, in the current shape of the show, it would have been a waste of real estate.Turns out K-2SO was originally going to be introduced in a horror episode (for episode 9) but was ultimately scrapped because they couldn't afford it, according to Tony Gilroy via Entertainment weekly:

A few viewers didn't really feel it was organic as lugging a robot that weighs a ton wouldn't be the first action most people would take when fleeing a massacreThe way they introduced K-2SO was good and organic and i hope we see more of him in the final chapter of Andor next week.
I agree this was a problem with the episode. The action stopped cold.A few viewers didn't really feel it was organic as lugging a robot that weighs a ton wouldn't be the first action most people would take when fleeing a massacre
All Hux cared about was screwing Kylo Ren over.Same with Hux being a spy--it makes no sense unless Hux got some sort of secret promise that he'll be immune from prosecution in return for spying on the First Order.

Yeah, I just read the article and had more or less the same thought. If the rest of the season had been structured the way it is now, it would have felt kind of weird to suddenly shift to a one off horror story in the middle of the season. As cool as that sounds i don't think it would have fit well into Andor and its themes. This sounds like more of a standalone episode or part of a general Star Wars anthology series with self contained episodes filling in some blanks of Star Wars lore ( come to think of it i'd like such a show).

For once, I'm in complete agreement with you. K2's "origin" was pretty forced.A few viewers didn't really feel it was organic as lugging a robot that weighs a ton wouldn't be the first action most people would take when fleeing a massacre
I think they did okay with the Rebels nonsense, but the way they handled K2 was pretty forced. But it's relatively small potatoes in the greater context of this sublime tv show.It was clumsy as hell just to connect canon dots together, but hey, if that's the worst thing about that episode we're all doing well and so is the series.
The Stormtroppers were aiming for him. He’s lucky he wasn’t shot in the square
