Spoilers Andor - Season 2

She's beginning to understand what she's going to lose: EVERYTHING. And it's killing her.
I actually am not sure Leida will be killed off, in fact I think Leida will denounce her mother as a traitor and toe the Imperial line to keep the extravagance we just witnessed in this premiere (even if she doesn't particularly care for her husband, she wants the glamor and the prestige that following the Imperial way would afford her).

Not sure about Perrin though, he might actually die, probably realizing beforehand how far off the truth he was (obviously Mon's not having an affair, he'll realize all her secrecy was about the Rebellion). If Perrin does die though and my prediction of Leida sticking to the Empire holds, it would make Leida that much colder as she cheers on the Empire that killed her own father and banished her mother.

Finished the first arc.

Through the first two episodes I had the same issues with pacing and content that others have mentioned, but the third ep seemed to pull it all together for me and left me thinking: "That f'n rocked!"

Loved the reveal of Yavin IV- I did NOT see that one coming, and it helped make a little more sense of what seemed like some fairly nonsensical filler.

Mon Mothma is in hell. You look at the world building for Chandrilla, the beauty of it all, the customs of its people, and she is obviously a prominent person in that society and should be riding high. But she's being pulled down into the Rebellion because like Andor, she just can't tolerate what is happening in the galaxy. But she's not programmed to be a Rebel- she's programmed to be royalty, and she's slowly becoming aware that she's stepping onto the path Luthen has been on for years: one of TOTAL loss and sacrifice. She's beginning to understand what she's going to lose: EVERYTHING. And it's killing her.

The juxtaposition is Luthen's comment to Mon when she pretends not to understand what he is implying: "How nice for you." He knows what has to be done, even though he hates it, and he walks out as oblivious people are celebrating around him- a sunrise of sorts that he doesn't get to see (cannot participate in). Mon can't deal with it yet, so she just gives in for the moment and drowns it all out.

This is deep stuff. Even if it wasn't SW, it would be dark, good, deep stuff.

Couple of side notes: Gotta love the Chandrillan disco ball. Let's get some maidens on the dance floor and get this party started! Very much like how real weddings tend to devolve into a drunken bash when the serious stuff is over with. I'm not usually caring about fashion so much, but that wedding dress?!?!? Dayum, it made me want to marry the girl!

Loved the TIE Avenger. I've smoked many a rebel scum in one although most of the time I'm smoking Imps from an X-wing.

I didn't realize it right away but they left the anxiety droid behind! Poor guy! He's already fearful like an abused dog!

One of Andor's remaining 'people' down, two left. Three arcs to go. It isn't hard to see how this ends, but it is heartbreaking. Makes his speech to Jyn Erso in Rogue One all the more on point. Andor loses everyone along the way, and then loses himself in the end. (Killed on Scarif)

Anyway, we're off to a great start. This is the only REALLY good thing currently going in SW.
I love your comments, but I will not stand for "Skeleton Crew" erasure! That show, while utterly different than Andor, was also lovely.

(it even seems to be a planet, which I think is a new development although it's possible the Sienar family is so powerful they have their own planet)
Going by what the official databank says: 1) The planet isn't called "Sienar". It doesn't have a name at all, just the numerical designation '73'. 2) Yes Sienar are more than powerful enough to have their own planet. Indeed, they have at least 73 of them. Yes they're that big.

ETA: Pretty sure Lianna has been mentioned somewhere in canon or shown on a map, so it's likely it'll still be Sienar's base of operations. Even though Santhe and Sienar aren't as closely linked in canon as they were in Legends fluff (where the latter was a subsidiary of the former), they do seem to still have close associations, so the Lianna connection also probably holds up too.

Seen as a "one movie", rather than 3 individual episodes - it was mostly very good. Can't wait for next week's batch of episodes - so glad we get 3 at once, instead of just one a week.
Hope the alluded Ghorman massacre isn't at the end of the season/series, but rather soon. Maybe after Episode 6 or 9 - so get get more between that and when the Andor movie picks back up.

  • Cassian Andor's stealing he fighter was well done comedy - him realizing he doesn't know this type of fighter, him flying backwards before mowing down troopers and creating an exit.
  • the "rock paper scissors" rebels dragged and it was one of two things bothering me. Really felt "must keep Cassian Andor occupied", so his timing later makes dramatic sense... guess they were all monster snacks afterward.

  • Dedra, Syril and his mother = just comedy gold. Couldn't stop laughing at the creepy Dedra smile in front of the dress mirror scene and how Dedra laid down "the rules of engagement" to Syril's Mom. Hilarious and so well done.
  • The "secret" baddies meeting being so "normalized" was creepy AF, all these bad, worse and frankly terrible things they ponder and discuss while eating finger good The Ministry Of Enlightenment, my *ss. Kreenic sensing or knowing the various skills and talents of Dedra already, pointing out she had an idea before the other idiots stopped talking.

  • The farmers planet part was well done, loved the overall look of their shed on wheels tractor? and overall the fields and grain silos.
  • As for the old farmer man and Brasso: did he sell them out and why? Because of that non-approved kid romance?
  • On the Bix character - she might as well hold a target sign with damsel in distress, unfortunately. This is sad, because she seems like a competent and capable character. Feel like that disgusting rapist imperial storyline wasn't even necessary to set up something gone wrong at inspections. Hope the distress thing is not happening a 3rd time.
  • Luthen? and his communication specialist/shop assistant-lady whose looks remind me of Leia - were awesome.

  • The whole wedding ceremonial was the other drag; the dialogues themselves, often full of needles and with (not so) covert meanings, were good tough. Mon Mothma and Luther's ever more desperate talks, or with her husband, but especially the scene with her daughter where she gave her a way out and was shut down - were awesome. Rough fro Mon Mothma: Daughter given away or lost, her husband's marriage surely won't survive long either, now likely losing her oldest (but, greedy) friend Tay.
  • Heart wrenching to see Vel see Cinta again like this - when Cinta picked up the likely soon to be offed or disappeared Tay as his late driver replacement.

I know Cassian will survive, hoping Cinta and Bix will too, but realistically I think they'll both bite the dust this season, as well as a lot of others probably too.
Very, very steep price to pay for Mon Mothma and Cassian, and I'm sure we haven't even reached approaching the Halfway of the painful bill they have to pay to keep the Rebellion going.

Minor spoilers regarding Ghorman
Star Wars canon books as well as the Rebels cartoon have said the massacre happens in 2 BBY, meaning it should be depicted in episodes 7-9 of Andor Season 2

I wonder if they'll show how Saw Gerrera gets turned into a cyborg, but I doubt there's time. The Ghorman massacre would be the perfect situation for that to happen, the problem is that the Rebels cartoon shows Saw healthy in 1 BBY while the Ghorman massacre is in 2 BBY.

As for the old farmer man and Brasso: did he sell them out and why? Because of that non-approved kid romance?
Did you see the very subtle nod between them? I read it as Brasso was making the whole thing up to protect the farmer in the eyes of the Imperials. Brasso knew he was done, but was thankful for the farmer's help over the time they've been there. The farmer had done plenty for Brasso and the others that was putting himself at risk.

Finished up Harvest today, and the rest of it did not disappoint.
I loved Eedy, Syril, and Dedra's meal, especially Dreda standing up to Eedy.
The Imperial stuff on Mina-Rau was even worse than I expected. Poor Bix, I really hope her being tortured and targeted for this kind of thing is done now, she's been through enough. Damn, I'm sad to see Brasso go, I liked him a lot. Did the guy from the store actually sell Brasso and the others out, or was he just covering his ass? I didn't realize they left Bee behind until you guys pointed it out. I hope someone goes back for him at some point.
Poor Mon, I was hoping they'd find a way to resolve things without Tay having to die. It's pretty clear this was the start of her being pushed to finally openly declare her rebellion against the Empire. I'm very curious what will happen to Perrin and Leida after Mon turns on the Empire. Leida at least has her new in-laws to possibly protect her, but I can't see it going well for Perrin.
The Yavin rebels resolving their issues with their own version of rock, paper, scissors was not how expected that to end. I'm curious if there's going to be any of them left when we return to Yavin. That whole thing was a fun way to keep Cassian off Mina-Rau until the last minute, and a nice look at the state of Rebel groups who didn't have people like Hera, Sato, or Saw to keep them organized.

I'm curious where we're going to find everyone when we come back a year later in the next arc.

There is rebellion but not The Rebellion/The Rebel Alliance. Season One shows several rebel organizations. Some of which are distrustful of each other and have disparate goals.
Yeah, I've been under the impression that the Rebel Alliance didn't really come together until after Scaif and Yavin, and that it was those two battles that really inspired them all to come together.

I actually pointed this out to someone on a different forum who also missed it.

No, the farmer didn't sell out Brasso. Brasso knew he was screwed, so he pretended the farmer was in the tank for the Imperials to protect him and get him off the hook.

Watch the scene closely.

The farmer has a clear "WTF" expression when Brasso accuses him of ratting him out. And, once Brasso's been knocked to the ground, he and the farmer share a look and a subtle smile. It's clear the farmer appreciates and understands what Brasso did.

  • I did not expect Erskin Semaj to show up, let alone this early! I guess it stands to reason given he'll be Mon's attache in her flight from Coruscant, she would have had to have known and trusted him for some time. It could also mean the chances of a direct cross-over with 'Secret Cargo' have gone up a little, but it could just as easily just mean they're tying into Rebels elements where it makes the most sense.
This is the only kind of cameo/reference that I like.

The kind where I had no clue it was a reference.

It was put there for the fans who'd get it, but it was otherwise totally organic and not distracting in any way. It didn't bend over backward to call attention to itself or pat itself on the back for its cleverness, like the vast majority of the references in not only the Filoni/Favreau oeuvre, but "the Force Awakens", as wel.

There's already a full-fledged Rebellion under Mothma in Rebels before Scarif and Yavin, established more or less right after she's outed as a traitor (which hasn't happened in Andor yet but will in a few episodes)

Dantooine base has to come before Yavin so whether the morons featured in the S1 premiere will lead to Yavin base directly seems unlikely going by the timeline.

Vader: Supervisor Meero, can you hear me?

Meero: Yes Lord Vader. Where is Syril? Is he safe? Is he all right?

Vader: It seems in your... patriotism, you inadvertently killed him on Ghorman.

Meero: I? I couldn't have. He was alive; I saw it!

Vader:

Meero: NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I like the idea, but I don’t think it works: if Brasso’s making it up that the farmer sold them out, the Imperials should then go, “Oh, so you knew what they were? Since you didn’t report them, you’re under arrest!” So no, I think he really did sell them out.

Many people also think brasso is covering for the farmer on reddit, but like you pointed out the imperials would obviously know if the farmer informed them or not so it's nonsensical

Brasso was 100% covering for the farmer.

When Brasso "confronts" the Farmer, the Farmer has a "WTF" look on his face. Then, once Brasso's been knocked to the ground, he and the Farmer literally exchange a smile and he gives Brasso a look of gratitude.
