And the Next Cancelled Show is...

In weird news. Netflix wants to continue Lucifer past the finale season 5.

Netflix has become such shit they can't figure out what the fuck they are doing at all. Let's uncancel a show right before they wrap production on the 'final' season.

Since they don't use a traditional ratings system or advertisement sales, some believe that Netflix doesn't care how many eyeballs are watching a show. They only care about the new eyeballs that are paying to watch it, which is why a lot of stuff disappears after only a few seasons.

Of course, they have yet to pull a profit too.

Very unlikely the show was ending with a finite ending. Adding another season was probably always do-able.

The show was ending, they were using the ending they had planned for for awhile now. So yeah they can probably add a few more seasons, but I'd bet some of the characters we love will end up dead.

Honestly, I kind of wish Netflix would focus on doing series rather than movies. It's just a personal feeling, but I've felt their series to be a lot stronger than most of their movie output.

The problem with Netflix is they make 10 billion dollars of shit every year and they don't advertise it so no one knows about 98% of the programing that's added. Netflix also cancels or renews within a month of a show's release, but with so much shit who knows what's being added. Shows get canceled before they get announced as released.

It's not surprising and browsing on it is a chore. Discoverability is poor and I mostly notice something new if it comes up as a related recommendation. Browsing the new releases list is laughable as I sometimes find things there that are not new at all, when I know there's been more recent.

I agree. I only have Netflix through a giftcard. It ends in late June. I'm not paying for it. I have Hulu for $2 a month. It has a whole group just for Hulu's own shows. You are on Netflix and there are Netflix exclusives but they are in another language. That's fine but 90% of the time I'm not watching (aka reading) the TV so those are useless. Netflix needs to redo the whole experience, have it be more clear it's a foreign show and have a section that's 'coming soon' that's clear and up to date.

Yeah, the problem is that they have shows that they get the rights from other countries to that they claim as Originals, and original productions created specifically for Netflix such as The Crown and House of Cards, but at the same time there's no distinction made at all and they're all thrown into the same grouping, which makes it look like a lot more original productions than they really have. I think maybe at most it's 10-20% Netflix created vs 90% to rights bought. It used to be the Netflix Originals badge meant something, but it's muddy at best now as to what it actually means. I think they need to have two different badges that denote the original stuff created and the ones they've bought the rights to show.

They shouldn't be allowed to claim it's a Netflix Original at all, that's stupid. West Wing is going to be an HBO Max Exclusive in December. They aren't going to label it as 'HBO Max Original'. Netflix can just call it a foreign original.

At least with Amazon you get little 10 second ads before a video showing you that something is coming out. It's also on the front page so you know The Expanse is coming out and when. Netflix doesn't have that. Of course Amazon took Babylon 5 away without telling me. That's yet another problem with these things.

It's sad that Hulu has the best set up out of the three, and I still think it's garbage, but it at least reminds me when a new episode of something I've watched was added. Like Grow-ish every week tells me.

Give us few a million dollars out of the 10 billion and we will fix things up really nice.

Yep, definitely agreed. It's actually caused some confusion on my end. There are some Canadian shows that have been broadcast nationally that I've seen them claim as Netflix Originals.

^Anne with an E was one. Apparently the experience wasn't a great one for the CBC, so they aren't going to partner with Netflix ever again. (I'm also pissed that they cancelled that one; I was hoping CBC would continue to go it alone with Anne. I thought it was an interesting new take on the material.)

Netflix produces more new series than any other network or streaming service in the world. Honestly, their movie output is miniscule compared to the amount of series they put out.

I never use the the actual streaming services directories to check out what new series or movies are on the horizon. I go the their wikipedia pages and I find out all the information I need in seconds, including what's in English or not.

The problem with that approach is that each region is different in what they have available on there and you can never be sure what is actually there at any given time. So many other websites dedicated to what's on Netflix for any given region do a better job than Netflix itself in listing what's available.

Oh, that's too bad. I didn't realize it was actually a co-production with them.
