Check it out. Yeah, you're hearing a lot of stuff on CNN, but as usual, they're intentionally misrepresenting.

You don't have to like Ann Coulter to dislike sleazy propaganda coming from the press.

FYI.. the short version... she didn't say she wanted John Edwards to be killed by terrorists. She pointed out that Bill Maher said that he wanted Dick Cheney to be killed by terrorists... and was serious... and there was no outcry against that, so evidently then it would have been okay for her to have said that about Edwards.

Context counts, folks. Don't trust what you're told... check it out for yourself. The original interview is above... spend a couple of minutes and hear what's REALLY said... then compare the reality to the 24/7 hysterics coming off of CNN.

While I don't think a Christine Chapel cameo is necessary, a Majel cameo might be appropriate, considering she's existed in almost every facet of Star Trek in one way or another.

Again, I recommend that anyone who believes that Ann Coulter was engaging in "hate speech" should actually watch this clip. The whole point is that she was mocking the fact that people did NOT respond to Bill Maher's "hate speech" so (using some irony here) it must be okay to say those things.

For anyone who doesn't get my comment re: "Number Six"... watch "The Prisoner." The lead character is a spy who is captured and taken to a brainwashing facility called "The Village" which, among other things, involves the use of surrealism and disorientation... and yes, MASSIVE misinformation and misrepresentation... to attempt to dissociate their captives from their sense of reality. The leader, responsible for the attempts to break "Number 6" (our hero in the show) was known as "Number 2."

The Prisoner is a great show. I'm a huge fan. And one of most common recurring themes in the show is that anyone who blindly follows "what they're told to believe" rather than thinking for themself is doomed to "die here like a rotting cabbage."

All I'm asking is that, instead of listening to what you're being TOLD to believe... check out the REAL FACTS here.

And somehow that makes me a "pro-hate-speech" person?

You think it's OK for "Number Six" to describe me as someone who's into "hate speech and blind bigotry." Sure, that's fine... because it suites your personal viewpoint as well. You're about as far from being a "moderator" as anyone I've ever seen. You're an overt partisan and you "enforce" based purely on your personal whims. If you agree with some bit of nastiness... that bit of nastiness is JUST FINE with you. But far be it from the person who was just attacked to respond. Oh, and FYI, my response involved INFORMATION again... whereas his involved nothing but a personal attack.

Number6 suggested Ann Coulter as a joke in the second post in this thread. Nobody responded to it until HyperionReborn piped in with "Umm... retch?" From that point on, this thread has been nothing but back-and-forth between you getting up on your soapbox about truthiness in the media, and Number6 tarring you (unfairly) with a broad brush for sticking up for some self-promoting attention whore whose continued fame certainly rests on the old adage that there's no such thing as "bad press."

I'd like to discuss Star Trek XI. I'm really looking forward to this movie, and I enjoy discussing it with the people who post here. But it really puts a crimp on things when you (and others) drag threads way off-topic like we've seen here.

And no, I'm not a moderator in this forum, but I am a poster, and am free to speak my mind just as you are. Freedom to speak your mind doesn't mean you have the freedom to turn this into a TNZ annex.

I don't like By The Book, sometimes I myself have bended guidelines by starting a thread like "What other movies are you looking forward to?" and talking about TMP and NEM more recently. This forum can get extremely repetitive without breaks but there is a dinstinction between dragging the forum off topic to discuss movies and dragging the forum off topic to discuss politics.

Serious debate over politics -- and religion for that matter -- belong in TNZ. It doesn't work anywhere else. Unfortunately.

However, once it does go into politics, niether side is going to have any advantage over the other as far as I'm concerned. There shouldn't even be these types of arguments so I won't take sides because if I lean one way even slightly then it'll go straight to the head of that side and add more fuel to the fire I want to put out.

Anyone who wants to discuss the three warnings I've issued can do so with me over PM.

Now I'm done. I'm going to give this thread one more chance. The next person who discusses politics or decides to get personal within this thread will recieve an automatic warning.
 
You should give yourself a warning for spamming, Garth. You are supposed to cut and paste; not make three back to back posts. :)
 
With precedent, set by co-staff, that does not apply to moderating. TBonz doesn't mind.
