Sion , home of the Sonjieon & Uencarrah
Sion is the fourth planet in the system. It is a lush green world with advanced agriculture (farms). An herbivore run and driven society, rich in dilithium deposits. The atmosphere is thinner than Earth and has only eleven % oxygen. This may explain why the Uencarrans have increased hearing and an amazing sense of smell.
Two hearts don't hurt either.
The Sonjieons are a heavily bureaucratic civilization governed by a counsel of twelve nobles and monitored by the Ministry of Peace. A planetary force shield and
a large space station with repair docks surround the planet. Their ships only go warp three on average and fewer go more than warp five.
Until recently the Federation had wondered how a low tek world was coming up with cutting edge shields and weapons. Now we know that they use psi to look in to
the future to make the leap in tecknowledgey.
Things to know when visiting planet Sion:
1) If you pull the tail of a Uencarrah or Sonjieon female, it is considered a marriage proposal.
2) If anyone drops a knife and you pick it up, you have just accepted a challenge to a duel, even if it was just a butter knife that fell off the table. (Uencarrans only).
3) The friendly hug and pat on the back greeting of the Sonjie is to make sure your not packing heat or a dagger.
4) The more jewelry a person wears is a good way to tell how high their title is. Your pips & badge is a sign for them.
5) The length of tail hair is grown longer for those of noble birth.
6) Young Sonjie girls will do anything to snag a Starfleet officer for a husband. Anything , so watch how much you drink.

History of Sion:
900 yrs. or so ago, planet Sion had two separate races. The Sonjieon (son-jee-on): an herbivore, bipedal canine humanoid race with a life span of about 30yrs., and
a growing population. Their physical appearance is mainly dark tan skin with blonde hair and blue eyes with large ears.
The other race was known as the Uencarrah (oon-car-ah).
The Uencarrah are a carnivorous wolf like humanoid race with nocturnal feeding habits, and the Sonjieon's were their main food supply. Their life span is close to 450 yrs.,
and they breed less often than the Sonjieon. Their physical appearance is pale in skin color with black hair and red or yellow eyes with large pointed ears. They live with the
code of life: (1) Never kill more than you can eat, (2) Never own more than you can carry, (3) Uencarrah will not hunt Uencarrah, and (4) Your word is your bond. As the predator,
the Uencarrah have a number of advantages over their prey, such as heightened senses, two rows of sharp teeth, speed and mental abilities. The Sonjieon thought they were immortal
since 20 generations could pass before a Uencarran would stop hunting their village. Myth replaced fact and the monsters were born.
Then every thing changed in a heartbeat. The Kzinti attacked and invaded Sion. The Sonjieon were torn between the devil they knew and the devil they didn’t. At least the
Uencarrah had rules. The Sonjieons begged the Uencarrah for help and after much thought they agreed to defend their planet together. The Uencarrah did most of the fighting, but
their numbers were small. Then the Sonjieons had a brilliant plan to save themselves from both hunters with one stroke. They would intermix with the Uencarrah though mating to
build up their numbers. They explained to the Uencarrah that Sonjieons produce children much faster and the Uencarrah were the hunters. The combination of the two would be in
their best interest. The plan worked better than they had hoped. Thus Kzinti were driven from Sion, and the mixed offspring had the best of both races. They looked like Sonjieons, but
the Uencarrah considered them their own kind and rule #3 (Uencarrah won't hunt Uencarrah). The Sonjies trick the Uencars into a permanent truce. A unified government was
established and since most of the pure blooded Uencarrah were killed off in the war, they had a much smaller part in this new Republic of Sion.
Dirty little secrets:
98 years ago, Sion applied for membership into the Federation. 50 yrs. ago, they were accepted, but not before they buried a few skeletons in their closet. 800 yrs of mixing
the two races by choice now became law and those Uencarrah who will not mix are shipped to a concentration camp on the tip of the southern cotenant. The official story is that
there is only one race left. The general public believes the Uencarrah were bred out of existence, or that they’re nothing more than a myth about the bogymen now. Till this day,
Sonjieons still fear the pure blooded Uencarrah.
There are no pure Sonjieons left. Mixing races gave them longer life spans of about (200), and some now have mental powers, such as mind reading and mind shield,
something the Sonjie maid quick use of. The birth of The Ministry of Peace, an organization dedicated to home world security through a telepathic force known as PSI corp.
The Sonjieon never gained the ability of telepathic resistance that the Uencarrah have, but at least a few new powers surfaced through the mixing, such as receptive telepathy.
All Uencarrah have the ability to send their thought to their prey, but they themselves are immune to it. As a result they can't read minds or receive thoughts sent by another.
This always seemed like a disadvantage, but the way things are now, it's a good thing to be immune to mind reading. Some stronger red-eyed Alpha Uencarrans have pushed
their gift from sending thoughts to sending commands (Mind control). The new laws of Sion give the death sentence for having this power, even if it was never used. Some
yellow-eyed Beta Uencarrans have far-sight or future-sight. Once used for hunting and finding prey, it is now a sought after power and the Uencarrans with this ability are used
or mated to Sonjieons. Sion uses future sight to gain tec. before it's time.
Prophecy to come:
Many Seers of planet Sion, Uncarrah and Sonjieon alike, have predicted the coming of an Uencarran red-eyed Alpha with both (Mind control) and (Future sight) who will end
the reign of the Sonjie and bring the sword of truth to light. As such, the Republic of Sion has charged The Ministry of Peace with the elimination of any and all threats that might
meet the definition of this prophecy. This combination is of powers is so rare that only a hand full of cases has ever been recorded in the whole history of Sion.
One does exist, and she has been sent off world until she is able to reaches her full potential. This young Uencarran is now in Starfleet and is safe for the moment as long as her powers remain
a secret.
