Amy's occupation revealed (spoilers, obviously)

A Benny Hill version would be awesome. I can just picture the short bald companion now...........

In the UK, "Series" refers to the programme itself. So, Doctor Who is a series; Coronation Street is a series; CIS is a series. In addtion, what in the US is called a season is also called a series. So, we talk about the current series of Strictly Come Dancing; the fourth series of Blakes Seven in which everybody died etc. People at the bus stop will be talking about the new series of Footballers Wives starting etc. So, although season and series are technically interchangeable terms, for the man on the street in the UK they probably aren't.

I don't mind if people refer to Doctor Who's series as seasons, but I will call them series because it's a British show (I might even call them seriels, too!) For US shows, I'll refer to them as seasons. So, I've just finished watching season 3 of Dexter and I'm looking forward to the new series of Doctor Who.

That's great and all, but I said "Season" for the Classic episodes because I do believe that IN THE UK, the Classic Dr. Who episodes were referred to by "Season" by the Beeb, and not as "Series".

I do not believe that the term "Series" was used as a synonym for "Season" as regards Doctor Who until the 2005 relaunch.

^^ You guys do realize that this is quite possibly the single most fickle, nit-picky-ish debate ever, right?

I say that with love. WITH LOVE.

So what? We're Doctor Who fans. Whovians, if you will. We're famous for this. Just roll with it.

Besides, I have the luxury of being right, and therefore blameless for defending my case. :p

My favourite photo of the last few days. Are we sure Karen's not the Doctor and Matt the companion?

I do believe we'd literally see people's brains melt if they managed to keep that a secret and that was actually the case in the first episode.

Remind me, you are the guy complaining about the shade of blue of the TARDIS and that its too "boxy" right? ;)

Damn straight. ;)

Though it's not really a complaint per se. It's an opinion, but it's not something I feel that strongly about. I'm sure I'll enjoy Moffat's Who, even if I don't like the new TARDIS prop. :bolian:

And what, Chaos Descending and WillsBabe aren't expressing their opinions?

:guffaw:I think the only part of that picture that is true to life, is the idea that Britain has a female cops.
