Amy's occupation revealed (spoilers, obviously)

My, my 11, what broad shoulders you have. Could 11 turn out to be the third hot Doctor in a row!

 This is so true. I thought it was some plain blue thing.
he even gave it to Martha at one stage, and we didnt notice it, this is one final message to the fans from RTDs this tie. "All you nerds who spend your life discussing the show in every detail, totally missed the tie"

Sorry to rain on your parade Zomdue (love the Halloween name btw) but 10 hasn't been wearing that tie all along. He might have worn it in The Next Doctor, not sure though.

And no, I can't beleive I was nerdy enough to research 10's choice of ties either...before anyone asks!
but that is the thing, he didnt just wear one tie that went unnoticed, he wore many ties that were unnoticed, there should have been a thread on OG/DWF/GB asking which is the best tie, what is with the tie agenda, should 11 wear a tie etc etc but there hasnt been, its gone totally over the heads of the fans, that is a major achievement by itself.

Not worth a thread of its own but confirmation that they really are calling next year's series "Series One" again. (Or hopefully if they have any sense "The 11th Doctor - Series One".)

Didn't the boards just used to say Doctor Who, Doctor Who II, Doctor Who III, etc?

Karen is very beautiful.... but way too thin for my tastes. Poor thing looks like she'll fly away if the wind gets too strong.

Personally, I feel an utter failure. It barely dawned on me that he had more than one suit... now I find he's had more than one shirt, and that he has actually been wearing a tie. I think I need to turn in my fancard and retire gracefully. ;) If only his face hadn't been so pretty, maybe I might have drifted my gaze south from time to time!

If they wanted to keep stuff secret they should have just printed it on his tie and shirt and no one would have ever known.

Yeah, exactly right Bob.

I'm not really bothered if they promote it as Series 1 again. In the older series, did they promote it as Series 26? etc?

Actually I believe that they called "Season 26", not "Series 26" etc.

But I don't believe the Beeb referred to Doctor Who by season anyway, officially. They used production codes like "Serial A" (An Unearthly Child), "Serial BB" (The War Machines), "Serial 4C" (The Ark in Space) etc.

Season and series are interchangeable.

WOW. Is that how police officers dress in England! :)

Well, they have to make up for not being capable of doing anything some way.

In the UK, "Series" refers to the programme itself. So, Doctor Who is a series; Coronation Street is a series; CIS is a series. In addtion, what in the US is called a season is also called a series. So, we talk about the current series of Strictly Come Dancing; the fourth series of Blakes Seven in which everybody died etc. People at the bus stop will be talking about the new series of Footballers Wives starting etc. So, although season and series are technically interchangeable terms, for the man on the street in the UK they probably aren't.

I don't mind if people refer to Doctor Who's series as seasons, but I will call them series because it's a British show (I might even call them seriels, too!) For US shows, I'll refer to them as seasons. So, I've just finished watching season 3 of Dexter and I'm looking forward to the new series of Doctor Who.

For me it depends on who I'm talking to. Most of the time I refer to US and UK shows in series, if I'm on talking to Americans I will say season.
I might refer to an entire series or just this series, or I could say "did you see that programme last night" or perhaps even show.
I guess our phrasing is a bit confusing but you can usually tell by context.

For me, if I'm talking about a British show, I'll say series instead of season no matter who I'm talking to.

Me too, but sometimes I just say season out of habit from talking on here with mostly Americans about American shows.

More Twitter updates from the set now suggest Amy actually IS a policewoman, and isn't going to a party. She's apparently been seen slamming the Doctor into a car at one point, suggesting she's either trying to arrest him or shag him senseless on the bonnet, but despite the appeal of seeing the latter I somehow doubt it.

Unless Moffat is making the Carry On / Benny Hill version of DW, she's not a policewoman in that outfit.
