American Idol..... top 12 will not include

WeAreTheBorg

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Lily Scott.

Are you serious? This season seems pretty weak so far, I had Bowersox and Lily as the top 2, and one of them doesn't make top 12. That's the worst elimination I've ever seen.

I'm shocked by Lilly's exit as well, but I guess there were warning signs, I just thought they would crop up further down the road. She was original, she moved to the beat of her own drummer, she 'knew who she was' as all the judges praised all the time, but there was a sameness about her performances, and I was already getting bored with her despite her talent. I think this could be a danger with Bowersox too, but she's a much better singer than Lilly.

I don't think this is a weak field. It's not as good as I thought it would be after watching auditions and Hollywood week, but I think that might be because this group seems less ready for primetime than some previous seasons. With the exceptions of Mike, Bowersox, and Siobhan. Everyone else is more of a work in progress.

The Lambert kid going was kind of a joke too. God knows he's far better than that other mophead who backed into the competition when somebody dropped out or whatever.

Lilly Scott. Is she the one who looks like a Tracey Ullman character?

I think it's this one:

Or that stuntwoman character...

That Top 12 is a joke. 3 of the 4 people let go last night (Epperly, Scott and Lambert) should still be there. Lots of tone deaf idiots out there.

The kid's problem was he has no visual presence. Its a singing contest, but also a tv show. Tim,the other kid, looks like a Brady kid and seem comfortable on stage. Picking the Cohen song (always a crowd pleaser) and pulling it off goes a long way.

Surprised Lily got cut, but her last performance was pretty weak and I guess people forgot what she did in previous weeks.

Next week should be interesting. The Stones should be smooth sailing for the contestants with a rock, blues or even country vibe. Might be tougher for the Pop singers. Of course the big question is who's covering Symphony For the Devil?

Katie or whatever he name is, the 16 year old girl who stayed when Lilly went, needs to go

I'm surprised too, Lilly was much better than that girl was

AI doesn't make sense sometimes

I don't know if Patsy Cline was the best choice she could've made.

What do I know though, that song Big Mike sang didn't do anything for me but he had Kara in tears and everyone fawning.

I like Big Mike, but he's not my favorite. Lilly was one of my favorites and now she's gone. Well that's annoying.
Crystal Bowersox will probably last a long time, at least close to the end, but while I like her music, there's something
about her that strikes me as either false or misleading. I'm not sure what it is, and it may just be in my head, but the
feeling is still there.

Yeah, Didi is cute, and I also like her voice. She's talented, too.

This is the first year I've really watched, is there anything especially significant about Top 12? Does the game change or whatever?

Yeah, they go to a bigger stage, bigger live audience around the stage, much bigger, and it starts to seem a bit more real and important, and of course is narrowing down further to the final 2. You also only have 1 elimination every week, no more girls vs. guys, and each person gets to sing 2 songs.

^^ Whoa, that is quite a change, I was wondering why they kept saying it so reverently, Top 12.

Yep, its a really big deal, you could say that is when the show really starts, becomes much more interesting.

Also toss in the fact that the Top 12 tour every summer as part of that Idol on Tour. That gives a performer a lot of exposure on the national level. Being on that tour also nets the performer something like $350K, which is not chicken feed and could help change one's life.

Q2UnME

Do they tour the Top 12 now? I thought it was just the Top 10. Which never made any sense to me. They hype Top 12 like it's a huge milestone, then the first two eliminated don't get to go on the tour. :/

Just the top 10 tour and I always found that incredibly stupid. AI too cheap to have two more people tour?
