Altered Timeline: Which events will still happen?

to continue the bitching/power-playing rather than enjoying the good science fiction we're being given

Where exactly am I powerplaying?
I'm just trying to defend my point.

is it me, or does everyone have to nod in agreement to the greatness that is Star trek XI?

I'm not against this movie, chances are I'll love it. But I just don't like how it'll fit in the whole star trek universe.
I didn't say you specifically.

My POV; the franshise has been taken in quite a few different directions over the years and if at anytime it had pissed me off to the degree it seems it sometimes does others then I would just say, Welp, that's it for me. I don't like where this Trek is going, but there is nothing I can do about it so I need let go, walk away.

Not go to Trek sites and worry others about how upset I am or what a mistake what they are doing is. And if I did feel so inclined to exercise my right to free speech; I'd say it once and then walk away.

I'd take solace in the facts I have my Old Trek Collection and new novels in the Prime Universe will still be made.

You'd find me exclusively in forums which dealt with "my" kind of Trek.

EDIT:
I like made 5 posts :).
But fine, let's just agree to both see the movie and take it from there :)
If it does what I think it's going to do, I'll prolly ignore the whole thing anyway and slap a rational excuse to it.

That's the spirit!

I actually wouldn't expect a lot of novels and product about the Prime Universe to be put out, because all of Paramount's money is being invested in the Abramsverse.

The Prime Universe had become boring. B&B killed it. Let's face it, too many beige and earth-tone sets made for TV shows, too many bad scripts, B&B. Abrams, Orci, and Kurtzman have decided to trash everything, including a certain planet, to start anew.

Why should Paramount, for example, invest in anything to do with the TNG-verse if it died a natural death and they're throwing 150 Large at NU-Trek-verse?

Sorry, but the Prime Universe is Fanboy Country now. The Abramsverse is where the money is going to be made.

I think the biggest change in the future will be Picard repeating "There are six lights!" ;-)

I am not 100% sure I understand the whole debate about everything that is to come against everything that has come before.

I am a comic book guy at heart and about every five years someone will change Supermans origin a bit. I always feel like it is my job to make it all fit in my own continuity.

I once read a great quote that said continuity is Archie liking Betty and Veronica. I wish I could remember who wrote it.
