Alright, I need a little assistance...

As much as I like 4th season, and I'm sure there were those in the 3rd season that I liked--which I probably gave my little observation on--I would like some opinions on some 1st and 2nd season episodes I would be able to watch.

I'm under the opinion that the first two season are bad and I don't want to wade through episodes....(although, that's probably what I'm going to have to do anyway since I usually have a unique taste).

I actually thought Unexpected was an interesting episode....

I do want to see Horizon, and I know certain individuals hate it due to hatred of the Mayweather character(for whatever reason), but I'm curious to see what it's about.

I also understand there is a Tellerite-centric or Teller-centric episode somewhere in there....and I'm even interested in seeing the Borg episode where it is explained why they are present.

In any event, I would like to hear from some of the posters on some episodes from the 1st and 2nd season I should look out for....

My time is going to be very slim, but I'm going to start up my ENT watching again from the beginning....(especially since I've came across this nifty Chinese Mandarin site with television shows and movies)...

Ni hao ma! Wo hen hao! Ni na...?

Wo shi meng....

Wo hui shuo yidiar zhongwen...

Hao...

Some good ones from Season One are "The Andorian Incident," "Shadows of P'Jem," "Fallen Hero," and "Shuttlepod One." The first three are heavily Vulcan and/or Andorian themed. "Shuttlepod One" is just downright hiliarious.

Some good ones from Season Two are "Carbon Creek" (another Vulcan episode), "Minefield" (a Romulan episode), "Regeneration" (the Borg one) (IMO, the Borg being present works just fine with the previously established continuity), and "Bounty" (the Tellarite one you mentioned).

Overall, I wouldn't say the first two seasons are bad. They're just highly forgettable. Aside from these episodes, none really stick out. But, you never know, you might like them. I went into Enterprise expecting to hate it and came out loving it. :)

Bounty was rather poor IMO.

Good episodes in season 1: Strange New World, The Andorian Incident, Breaking the Ice, Shadows Of P'Jem, Shuttlepod One, Fusion, Detained, Fallen Hero. Dear Doctor had a lot of good moments, but a really idiotic resolution. Cold Front and Shockwave looked great at the time, the problem is when you know that the story would lead nowhere. Fortunate Son (one of the few times in the series that Mayweather got a substantial role), Fight or Flight, Vox Sola are OK. Most of the others are tolerable or have good moments, the only really bad one is Acquisition.

Good episodes from season 2: Carbon Creek, Minefield, Dead Stop, Cogenitor, Judgment (not the most convincing ending, though); First Flight is OK although it's full of cliches, The Catwalk, Cease Fire and Future Tense are OK but not great. The Horizon is all right, too, it's a story centered around Boomers and Mayweather's family. Nothing groundbreaking, but there's no reason why you wouldn't see it. Stigma is a heavy-handed AIDS allegory that would have nevertheless worked well if an interesting new look at the Vulcan society, if there weren't issues of discontinuity between that episode and the earlier Vulcan episode Fusion.

Most of season 2 episodes fall into "average", "average to poor" and "OK, but not great" categories - the problem is just that the stories are unoriginal and you feel like you've seen them many times already. Some of them even feel like remakes of well known films (Canamar - Con Air, Dawn - Enemy Mine, as well as Darmok and a bunch of other Trek episodes, Precious Cargo - a much worse version of It Happened One Night, etc.). Avoid Precious Cargo and Marauders at any cost!

And of course, there's The Expanse, S2 finale, but that's the beginning of the Xindi arc already.

S1:
Broken Bow is often cited as the best Trek premiere.

I also like Strange New World, The Andorian Incident and its later-season followup Shadows of P'Jem, Silent Enemy, Shuttlepod One, Fallen Hero, Desert Crossing, Two Days and Two Nights and Shockwave.

S2:
Shockwave II, Minefield/DeadStop, Singularity, The Catwalk, Stigma, Cease Fire, Judgment (J.G. Hertzler alone makes this one worth watching), you've mentioned Horizon, The Breach (if you like Phlox episodes), Cogenitor, Regeneration, First Flight, The Expanse.

S1
Broken Bow (great opening for a series), Strange New World, Unexpected, Breaking the Ice, Silent Enemy, Shuttlepod One, Dessert Crossing, 2D2N, Shockwave.

S2
Shockwave 2, Deadstop, Catwalk, Cogenitor, First Flight, The Expanse.

Tks for the recommendations....

I have seen a couple that were mentioned: Carbon Creek, Deadstop, Minefield; I didn't like Carbon Creek, but I thought Deadstop and Minefield were very enjoyable. (I have my 'observations' posted in the ENT area somewhere).

I think 'Dear Doctor' is the crowning achievement of traditional trek for the first season. 'Shuttlepod One' is the best character driven episode.

I've said before that I believe ENT's first season to be the second best of the first seasons after TOS. It has a certain level of consitancy throughout.

Shuttlepod One is my personal best ENT episode. I'm a big fan of character driven episodes and that didn't disappoint. I also like Silent Enemy and Vox Sola as there were kinda' creepy qualities to them.

As for season two, I suppose my favourite episode out of that would be Singularity. I find it slightly funny watching the crew becoming obsessive in their duties, especially the Reed Alert scenes.

S2:
Shockwave II (disappointing, but ... you gotta see it), DeadStop, Singularity, Catwalk, Stigma, Cease Fire, Judgment, The Breach, Cogenitor, First Flight, The Expanse. If you have time watch The Seventh. It's not one of my favorites, but it's an interesting T'Pol ep.

Thank you...!

I actually did like Andorian Incident, and I even own the script to that. However, Archer's punch to the Vulcan bothered me; I have an 'observation' posted somewhere here...

The Daniels episode (sorry, this is ENTERPRISE, except for the notorious TATV, I have a problem remembering titles) that both ended the first season and started the second was okay. Also, early in season two, they made first contact with the Romulans, and Archer told Reed to piss himself (not kidding). Then, right after, there was a follow-up about a repair station where the computer was voiced by Belanna Torres (who also directed that episode, I think), both pf those were some of the better offerings of the first two years.

Daniels Episode: Shockwave I & II.
First contact with the Romulans: Minefield.
Repair Station: Dead Stop.

Enterprise really overdid it with the two-parter episodes, throughout the series. In answer to the OP question, having only seen many of these episodes once, the ones I remember best, because I like them, would have to be Shuttlepod One and Terra Nova from season one, and Carbon Creek and Judgment from the second.

Actually, there's nothing at all wrong with seasons 1 & 2. Not all are classics, but there is nothing really painful, and most are pretty enjoyable
