Alphas renewed for season 2

I don't want the elimination of serialized TV, but just the inclusion of some episodic Sci-fi series too like the new Doctor Who, Warehouse 13, SG1, etc.

The problem is, there are few sci fi series being made at all, episodic or otherwise. (Supernatural fantasy and horror is more popular.) I'd like a space opera series and I don't care if it's serialized or episodic, but apparently even one is too much to hope for, unless it's animated.

The new TV development season starts up again in February. I always keep my eye open for any sf/f shows. But any drama developed for cable is likely to be serialized because that's what the cable audience likes, and sci fi on broadcast usually doesn't survive.

I haven't checked out the show yet, but I've been planning to since I liked DS9 and The 4400 a lot. Reading the news about Behr leaving as showrunner, I got major flashbacks to the turmoil that occurred in season 2 of Andromeda with RHW's departure. Hopefully the drop in quality won't be as bad... you'd almost have to try to reach that level of dreadfulness.

I quit on this after 8 episodes. Same thing I did with Haven, strangely enough. Both are shows that have sympathetic characters and a jarring light tone given the subject matter and, while entertaining enough, they just don't stand out as must-see TV.

Anyone heard any news about Robert Hewitt Wolfe and if he'll be staying with the show in season 2?

I still can't believe they gave Ira the boot.

Too bad you quit after 8... there was only three left of the season, and those three episodes were quite good. And the finale had balls rarely seen in network or cable SciFi.

I'm really looking forward to season 2.

Damn, I still need to see all of the finale. I fell asleep within the first half hour, and woke up to a very confusing ending.

WTF? They just started filming season 2???? I was hoping the show would be returning soon. Now it sounds like it will be late summer before it returns.

The first season premiered in July of 2011; I would expect the second season to premiere at a similar date. July 12 is over three months away, and since it will be a 13 episode season, that's plenty of time to have the premiere ready.

I haven't seen the show, but it's not effects-heavy, is it? Should be relatively easy to shepherd through post-production to make the summer air date.

I thought most US TV was made using a hoplight regime?

make an episode, make enough money for another, make another episode, make enough for...

It's a fucking ponzi scheme!

Too many shows get canceled after episode two to sink 1/4 of a billion into complete bollocks.

Its like they learned nothing form Terra Nova.

While it doesn't have a lot of post production effects, the show does use quite a bit of practical effects and some fairly impressive camera techniques. I'm sure it can hit a July premiere for the new season. Hopefully the writing will be as good as last season and they won't "retool" the show.

Yeah, for a show about people with superpowers, there's really not alot of SFX. And most of whats there is fairly small.

I wonder if they'll inherit any of the cast/characters from Eureka?

Fargo's Alpha Ability is that if he sees an "unmarked/unlabeled" button, that he has to push it.

Hopefully the one crossover moment with WH13/Eureka will be the only one and never acknowledged again.

Yeah, W13 and Eureka really fit well together, but the tone and style of Alphas is just to different for it to be compatible with them IMO.

I disagree. I'm glad the tones sort of clash a little bit. Different views of this fictional world they are all playing in.

Now, i don't want them crossing over all the time, but, there's something nice about a larger world for each of the shows.

Erin Way (Detroit 1-8-7) has been cast as Kay, a new team member.

Kat is described a [a] mysterious and free-spirited young loner whose Alpha ability allows her to pick up any skill at a glance. The downside is that her memories and experiences are short-lived.

As Harvey speculated, season two will premiere in Jyly.

As I walked into Best Buy tonight to pick up my pre-order of The Witcher 2 for Xbox 360, I ran across Alphas season 1 on DVD. It had a sticker marking it as an "exclusive" similar to how Ronald Moore's Virtuality pilot was released a few years back at Best Buy earlier than it was sold at other retailers. Current price is $30.
