Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

By the 2006 DVDs, I mean particularly the bonus versions. They are hard for me to watch. You have different values. That doesn’t make you weird. That makes you have different values.

I think nowadays the theatrical and home experiences are different, but in this day and age, equally important. 20 years ago, that was a question with a much different answer. 20 years from now, it might be a different answer again.
Yup, the non-anamorphic masters Fox pulled for the 2006 DVDs were over a decade old from when they were created for the laserdisc boxset in 1993. They looked ancient even when we got them as a bonus feature.

The picture quality definitely doesn't hold up, but since they remind me of the picture quality of the original 1980s VHS releases of the films they have a nostalgic flavor for me. But if there's any way to give us much cleaner, brighter and more colorful versions with better sound I'm all for it.

My eyes must be shit. I don't see any appreciable difference.

I want to get Star Wars on Blu Ray but I don't even know which version is the best one. I am someone who is actually fine with some of the special edition shots but hate things like Han Solo not shooting first, Dewbacks walking around everywhere at Mos Eisley and even right in front of the camera and the musical number in ROTJ.

The comments under the Twitter feed are terrible. Leaving aside what you said to right-wing Star Wars fans, it's normal for fans to approach this game with skepticism, given the difficulties faced by studios trying to make Star Wars Eclipse and Kotor remakes.

Hmm. Is it just me, or does "FotOR" sound like something out of the Master of the Universe franchise? I'm picturing an angry cyborg with a camera for an arm that's also a laser.

Seriously though, a spiritual successor to KotOR from what I'm assuming is a new studio made up of refugees from what's left of old Bioware* sounds very promising!
Assuming this will be set in canon, it'll be the first official such depiction of the Old Republic era. That it's set at the twilight of that era is also very interesting since it seems to signal LF are about ready to get into defining some key events of that period.

*The only thing I can find out about Arcanaut Studios is that they're based in Edmonton, Alberta, so that plus Hudson's involvement seemingly tracks!

It makes sense that they were gearing up for this. I remember when the "eras" page on the Star Wars website added The Old Republic even though there wasn't anything released, announced, or even rumored (like the "Dawn of the Jedi" movie) for that period.

Yeah that grabbed my attention at the time too, though honestly it was probably mostly just a placeholder since they'd already said they're working on a Dawn of the Jedi story with Mangold, and it'd be weird to have a graphic like that to skip over the Old Republic era, going right from the Dawn of the Jedi era to the High Republic. But yeah, it was only a matter of time until they got to it in some medium or another.

Probably worth remembering that the game is still in early development, so I wouldn't expect to gleam much from this trailer (that mostly seems to be using off-the-shelf ILM assets), at least in terms of story or backdrop.

That said, if they're going to try and have it be both canon and highly decision based, then one would assume it won't be directly intersecting with major events, at least not in a way to affect the outcome. Which I'm honestly fine with. The best Bioware games worked because of the characters and personal stakes much more that the impact on the worldstate from game to game.

If they're also going the usual RPG route of a custom protagonist, then they can't end up being a particularly well know historical figure. Indeed, that's basically how I'd prefer they end up handling Revan; that being someone that definitely existed, was present for certain events, though any specific personal details are lost to time, and tales of their exploits are many and often contradictory.

Casey Hudson responded to that, saying that the game will be out before then. Maybe he's being honest. Maybe he's being optimistic. Maybe he's just trying to reassure potential investors.

I'm hoping it will be ready by 2028 for KOTOR's 25th anniversary.
